In cer­tain pat­terns there are larger ar­eas of color within the piece. Since this type of pat­tern re­quires a new color only for that sec­tion, it is not nec­es­sary to carry the yarn back and forth across the back of the fab­ric. For this type of color work, use a sep­a­rate ball, bobbin or “but­ter­fly” of yarn for each color so that each color is avail­able only where needed. In or­der to pre­vent holes when chang­ing col­ors, bring the new color around the old color from be­neath to twist the yarns.
