Ribbing With A and smaller needle, cast on 92 (96) sts, pm for beg of rnd and join, being careful not to twist sts.
Work in 1x1 Rib until piece measures 11/2 (2) inches.
Change to larger circular needle. Beg Pat Inc rnd: *K12 (10), M1L; rep from * to last 8 (6) sts, k8 (6)—99 (105) sts. Purl 1 rnd. Cut A and join B. Work Rnds 1–12 of Elastic Rib.
Cut B and join C. Work Rnds 1–12 of Elastic Rib.
Cut C and join B. Work Rnds 1–12 of Elastic Rib until piece measures approx 71/2 (8) inches. Shape Crown Note: Change to dpns when sts no longer fit comfortably on circular needle. Cut B and join C. Rnd 1: *K1, p2tog; rep from * around—66 (70) sts. Rnd 2: *K1b, p1; rep from * around. Rnd 3: *K1, p1; rep from * around. Rnd 4: Rep Rnd 2. Rnds 5 and 6: Rep Rnds 3 and 4. Remove marker. *K2tog; rep from * until 8 sts rem. Cut yarn, leaving an 8-inch tail. Draw tail through rem sts and pull firmly to close.
Block to measurements.
