Blocks Pot Holder
With A, cast on 38 sts. Slipping first st of each row, knit
5 rows. Rows 1 (RS)–6: Sl 1, k2, *p4, k4; rep
from * across to last 3 sts, k3. Rows 7–12: Sl 1, k2, *k4, p4; rep from
* across to last 3 sts, k3. Rows 13–48: Rep [Rows 1–12]
3 times. Cut A.
Row 1 (RS): Change to B; sl 1, knit
to end. Using cable cast-on (see page 111),
cast on 24 sts for strap—62 sts. Knit 5 rows. Bind off; cut B, leaving an 8-inch tail.
Using tail, sew bound-off end of strap to side of pot holder, below border (see photo for reference). Weave in ends.
Mitered Pot Holder
With C, cast on 77 sts (38 sts per
side + 1 corner st). Pm in center st and move it up
each row. Row 1 (WS): Sl 1, knit to end. Row 2: Sl 1, knit to 1 st before marked
