Any uneven places will show up once trees are taken off form. Dip crochet tree in heavy fabric stiffener, making sure it’s evenly distributed over piece. Stretch tree down over cone, pulling it evenly to the bottom and making sure shell rows are in a straight line down the tree. Pin in place if necessary. When totally dry remove from form and discard plastic wrap. With wire brush, brush off stiffener residue from tree. Wrap garland around tree in a spiral, spacing rnds as evenly as possible. Use a few drops of fabric glue on the gold picots and press them against the tree to hold in place. Using fabric glue, attach star to top of tree through opening on center top of tree. FINISHING Place 2 small stars and large star in stiffener and smooth out flat on plastic wrap to dry, pinching ch-8 lp in a point to fit down in top of tree after it’s dry. Cut 1-inch plastic foam balls in half and hot glue a half section to top of each cone to round over top. CW 69 CROCHET-WORLD.COM AUTUMN 2019
