PAT­TERN NOTES

Hold 2 strands of yarn to­gether through­out un­less oth­er­wise stated. When us­ing 2 balls of yarn, pull tails from the in­side to pre­vent tan­gling. When us­ing 1 ball, pull 1 end from in­side and 1 end from out­side or pur­chase an ex­tra ball to make pulling 2 strands eas­ier. Mo­tifs are worked with right side fac­ing at all times. Do not turn at end of rounds. Po­si­tion chain loops on right side through­out. Ex­cept be­gin­ning tail, work over tails as work pro­gresses, leav­ing a short tail. Weave in short tail through worked-over sec­tion to se­cure through wash­ings. Join with slip stitch as in­di­cated un­less oth­er­wise stated. Chain-5 at be­gin­ning of round counts as first half dou­ble cro­chet and chain-3 un­less oth­er­wise stated. Chain-2 at be­gin­ning of round counts as first half dou­ble cro­chet un­less oth­er­wise stated. Chain-3 at be­gin­ning of round counts as first dou­ble cro­chet un­less oth­er­wise stated. SPE­CIAL STITCH

Chain loop (ch lp): Ch in­di­cated num­ber of sts; work­ing in front of ch lp just made, sl st from top down in last sc made, in­sert­ing hook in front lp and, at the same time, around left front post of sc. In sub­se­quent rows, this sc is worked as a stan­dard sc.

Make 13 of Mo­tif A & 6 of Mo­tif B. Foun­da­tion rnd: With 2 strands of first color held tog (see Color Se­quences and Pat­tern Notes), ch 6, with tail held to right and tak­ing care not to twist, sc in back lp (see il­lus­tra­tion) to form a ring. Place marker in sc.

Rnd 1 (RS): Tak­ing care not to twist work and with­out work­ing over beg tail (see Pat­tern Notes), [make 14-ch lp (see Spe­cial Stitch), sc in back lp of next ch, place marker in back lp (see Stitch Guide) of sc just made] 5 times, make 14-ch lp, join (see Pat­tern Notes) in marked sc of rnd 1. Re­move marker on sc. Place marker on first 14-ch lp. Place marker on cen­ter of mo­tif for RS. (6 14-ch lps, 5 sc, 1 sl st) Rnd 2: Ch 5 (see Pat­tern Notes), [sk next 14-ch lp, hdc in back lp of next marked sc, ch 3] 5 times, sk last 14-ch lp, sl st in both lps of 2nd ch of beg ch-5, fas­ten off. Re­move mark­ers from all sc. (6 ch-3 sps, 6 hdc)

Rnd 3: With 2 strands of 2nd color held tog, join in first ch-3 sp, ch 1, *(sc, place marker in sc just made, make 14-ch lp, sc, place marker in sc just made) in both lps of 2nd (cen­ter) ch of same ch-3 sp; sc in same ch-3 sp**, sc in both lps of next hdc, make 14-ch lp, sc in next ch-3 sp; rep from * around, end­ing last rep at **, sc in end­ing sl st of rnd 2, make 14-ch lp, join in both lps of beg ch-1 of this rnd, do not fas­ten off. Place marker in 2nd 14-ch lp. (12 14-ch lps, 29 sc)

Rnd 4: (Sl st, ch 2— see Pat­tern Notes, 2 hdc) in back lp of next marked sc, [ch 1, 3 hdc in back lp of next 2 marked sc] 5 times, ch 1, 3 hdc in back lp of last marked sc, join in both lps in top of beg ch-2, fas­ten off. Re­move all mark­ers. (6 ch-1 sps, 12 hdc groups)
