SCARF

Row 1: With red, ch 7, dc in 4th ch from hook (sk chs count

Row 2: Ch 3, dc in each dc across, turn. (5 dc) Rep row 2 until scarf measures 7 inches. Fasten off. Do not block scarf.

EYES Make 2.

With black, ch 4, fasten off.

NOSE

With orange, ch 6, dc in 4th ch from hook, hdc in next ch, sl st in next ch. Fasten off.

MOUTH

With black, ch 8, fasten off.

BUTTONS Make 3.

With black, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, join in beg sc, fasten off.

STIFFENING

Cover plastic foam balls with plastic wrap. Saturate pieces with fabric stiffener and stretch body and head over balls matching sts, secure with straight pins. When dry, remove pieces from forms. With toothbrush remove excess fabric stiffener from each section.

ASSEMBLY

Run a thin bead of fabric glue on each edge of head half and body half pieces and press halves tog, matching sts as evenly as possible. Let dry. With rnd 1 of body and head facing center front and back, place a dot of hot glue on top of body and place the head on top of body. With fabric glue apply eyes, nose, mouth and buttons by putting a little of the glue on each piece and shaping in place with toothpick. When dry trim rem 2-inch length on each eye and mouth. Tie scarf around neck. Place hat on head, cut a 12-inch length of red and insert crochet hook down through top of hat and head and out through an open hole on snowman. Pull lp through snowman and hat, pull up opposite end of red through a st in same area at top of hat. Tie ends tog tightly to hold hat in place. Tie thread ends to hanging lp on 1 half of ornament ball so the snowman hangs evenly inside. Put a dot of fabric glue on knot to keep it from pulling loose. Attach the 2nd half of the ball to the first and snap closed.
