# 09 char­coal heather (C) • Size H/ 8/ 5mm cro­chet hook or size needed

to ob­tain gauge • 1- inch wood but­tons: 4 • Stitch mark­ers • Ta­pes­try nee­dle

GAUGE

16 sc = 4 inches; 19 sc rows = 4 inches Take time to check gauge.

PAT­TERN NOTES

Chain-1 at be­gin­ning of row does not count as a stitch and is just to turn row. Chain-2 at be­gin­ning of round counts as first half dou­ble cro­chet un­less oth­er­wise stated. Join with slip stitch as in­di­cated un­less oth­er­wise stated. To pre­vent a lean­ing join when work­ing in the round, work yarn un­der hook in­stead of yarn over hook when pick­ing up the work­ing yarn through each stitch be­low. SLIP­PERS Make 2.

SOLE

With A, ch 8. Note: Sole is worked from toes to heel.

Rnd 1 (RS): With A, join (see Pat­tern Notes) in marked st on heel, ch 1, sc in same st, sc in each of next 3 [4, 4] sts, 32 [ 35, 39] sc evenly along edge, sc in each of 7 sc at toe, 32 [ 35, 39] sc evenly along op­po­site edge, sc in each of rem 3 [4, 4] sts at heel, chang­ing col­ors (see Stitch Guide) to B, join at top of beg sc. (78 [86, 94] sc)

Rnd 2: Ch 2 (see Pat­tern Notes), hdc in back lp (see Stitch Guide) of each sc around, chang­ing to C, join in top of beg ch-2, turn. Rnd 3: Ch 2, hdc in 3rd lp in the back of each hdc around, chang­ing to B, join in top of beg ch-2, turn.

Rnd 4: Ch 2, hdc in 3rd lp in the back of each hdc around, chang­ing to A, join in top of beg ch-2, turn.

Row 1 (RS): Join A with sl st in 6th [ 7th, 8th] sc from other side, ch 1, sc in same st and in each rem 5 [6, 7] sc on row, turn. (6 [7, 8] sc)

Row 2 ( WS): Ch 1, sc in same st and in each of next 4 [5, 6] sc, turn. (5 [6, 7] sc) Work even over the rem 5 [6, 7] sc un­til piece mea­sures 91/2 [101/2, 121/4] inches in to­tal. Fas­ten off.

AS­SEM­BLY

Join the ends from the side pieces and form RS sew tog edge to edge (mid- back).

Join Sole

With A and RS fac­ing, join yarn with sl st at edge at cen­ter back seam of Up­per. Work­ing through both Up­per and Sole, work 1 rnd of sc evenly around outer edge. Join with sl st to first sc. Fas­ten off.

LEFT LEG

Row 1 (RS): With A start­ing ap­prox­i­mately 21/2 inches be­fore mid- front, join at edge, work 40 [42, 44] sc evenly around edge at leg open­ing, end­ing ap­prox­i­mately 1 inch be­fore beg of rnd, turn.

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in first sc and in each sc around, turn.

Rep row 2 un­til leg mea­sures 5 [51/2, 6] inches, mea­sured from first row.

Dec row: Sl st in first sc, sc in each sc across to last 2 sc, sc dec in last 2 sc, turn. (38 [40, 42] sc)

Rep Dec row 3 more times. (32 [34, 36] sc) Fas­ten off.

EDGE

Row 1 (RS): With B join yarn at edge at side of leg in the bot­tom of the open­ing. Ch 2, hdc evenly up along side, along top of leg, and down along op­po­site side. Fas­ten off.

Row 2 (RS): With C put slip knot on hook, work sc in 3rd lp in the back of each hdc across, turn.

Row 3 ( WS): Ch 1, sc in first sc and in each sc up to the turn from side to top, work 2 sc in next sc, con­tinue with sc in each sc to next turn from top to side, work 2 sc in next sc, con­tinue with sc in each sc to end, turn.

Row 4: Ch 1, sc in first sc, sc in each sc to end, turn.

Rows 5 & 6: Rep [rows 3 and 4] once. Fas­ten off.

RIGHT LEG

Row 1 (RS): With A start ap­prox­i­mately 31/2 inches be­fore mid- front, join at edge, work 40 [42, 44] sc evenly around edge at leg open­ing, end­ing ap­prox­i­mately 1 inch be­fore beg of rnd, turn. Work and fin­ish as Left Leg. Work Edge the same way.

FIN­ISH­ING

Over­lap edges at side of leg and sew to bot­tom of split with fine sts through all lay­ers. Weave in ends. Sew 2 but­tons each side through both lay­ers. For place­ments see photo.
