Row 2: Ch 1, sc in first sc, [ch 1, sk next ch-1 sp, sc in next sc] across, turn. Rows 3–16: Rep row 2 of establishe­d pattern (see

Pattern Notes). At the end of last rep, fasten off.

Note: Beg foundation ch counts as an extra row to equal 17 rows total of Center Rectangle.

STRIPE 1

Right Side

Row 1 (RS): Draw up a lp of white in bottom right corner of Center Rectangle through 2 lps of corner ch, ch 1, sc in same ch, working up side edge of rows to top [ch 1, sk 1 row, sc in end of next row] across, turn. (9 sc,

8 ch-1 sps)

Rows 2–5: Rep row 2 of establishe­d pattern.

Left Side Rep Stripe 1 Right Side on opposite side of Center Rectangle beg in last row at top left with RS facing.

Row 1 (RS): Draw up a lp of white, ch 1, sc in same row as beg ch-1, [ch 1, sk 1 row, sc in end of next row] across, ending with ch 1, sk last row (row 1), sc through 2 lps of end ch, turn.

STRIPE 2

Top

Row 1 (RS): Draw up a lp of tea leaf in end last row of Stripe 1 Right Side, ch 1, sc in same row, [ch 1, sk 1 row, sc in end of next row] twice, working across top of Center Rectangle, ch 1, sc in next sc, work in establishe­d pattern across top of rectangle

(8 sc, 7 ch-1 sps), ch 1, sc in end of next row of Stripe 1 Left Side, [ch 1, sk 1 row, sc in each of next row] twice, turn. (14 sc, 13 ch-1 sps)

Rows 2–5: Rep row 2 of establishe­d pattern.

Bottom Rep Stripe 2 Top across bottom of Center Rectangle, beg with drawing up lp in end of row 5 of Stripe 1 Left Side.

Row 1 (RS): Ch 1, sc in same row, [ch 1, sk 1 row, sc in end of next row] twice, ch 1, sc through 2 lps of corner ch, working through 2 lps of rem chs of foundation, [ch 1, sk 1 ch, sc in next ch] 8 times, ch 1, sc in end of next row of Stripe 1 Right Side, [ch 1, sk 1 row, sc in end of next row] twice, ch 1, turn.

STRIPE 3 With RS facing, draw up lp of lemon in last row of Stripe 2 Bottom, ch 1, work as for Stripe 2 Bottom, then rep on opposite side beg in last row of Stripe 2 Top. (15 sc, 14 ch-1 sps)

STRIPE 4 With RS facing, draw up lp of coral beg as for Stripe 1 Right Side and work across top of Stripes 2 and 3, but continue for 7 rows, then work opposite Stripe. (20 sc, 19 ch-1 sps)

STRIPE 5 With RS facing, draw up lp of orchid in last row of Stripe 4 at bottom. Work as for other Stripes working [ch 1, sk 1 row, sc in end of next row] 3 times, continue in establishe­d pattern for 7 rows, then work opposite side Stripe. (23 sc, 22 ch-1 sps)

Note: Continuing to work counterclo­ckwise, work indicated number of rows and color each stripe same as previous stripes adding sc and ch-1 sps across each additional stripe.

Blue, 5 rows.

Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in first sc, (sc, ch 2, sc) in corner ch-2 sp, sc in next sc, *work in establishe­d pattern st around outer edge; at each corner, work: sc in first sc of corner, (sc, ch 2, sc) in ch-2 sp, sc in next sc of corner, rep from * to last ch-1 sp, ending with ch 1, sk last ch-1 sp, join in beg sc.

Rnd 3: Ch 2, sk next sc, *(sl st, ch 3, sl st) in corner ch-2 sp, ch 2, sk next sc, sl st in next sc and in next ch-1 sp, [ch 1, sk next sc, sl st in next ch-1 sp, ch 2, sk next sc] to corner, rep from * around, sl st in beg ch-2. Fasten off.

FINISHING

With WS facing, block lightly.
