PATTERN NOTES

Weave in loose ends as work progresses. Chain-3 at beginning of row counts as first double crochet unless otherwise stated. Chain-2 at beginning of row counts as first half double crochet unless otherwise stated. Do not join rounds unless otherwise stated. Use stitch marker to mark beginning of rounds and move up as each round is completed.

Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.

Single crochet join (sc join): Place slip knot on hook, insert hook in indicated st, yo and pull up a lp, yo and draw through both lps on hook.

Double crochet/front post treble crochet

decrease (dc/fptr dec): Yo, insert hook in next dc, yo, pull up a lp, yo, draw through 2 lps (2 lps

on hook), yo twice, insert hook from front to back to front again around post of next fptr, yo, pull up a lp (5 lps on hook), [yo, draw through 2 lps] twice (3 lps on hook), yo, draw through all 3 lps (counts as fptr).

Front post treble crochet decrease (fptr

dec): *Yo twice, insert hook from front to back to front again around post of next fptr, yo, pull up a lp, [yo, draw through 2 lps] twice, rep from * once (3 lps on hook), yo, draw through all 3 lps.

Row 1 (RS): Loosely ch 12, sc in 2nd ch and in each ch across, turn. (11 sc)

Rows 2–6: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn. Row 7: Ch 1, sc in each of first 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, *sc in each of next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep from * across to last 2 sts, sc in each of last 2 sc, turn. (14 sc)

Row 8: Ch 3 (see Pattern Notes), dc in each sc across, turn. (14 dc)

Row 1 (RS): Ch 2 (see Pattern Notes), fpdc (see

Stitch Guide) around next st, hdc in each of next 2 sts, fpdc around each of next 6 sts, hdc in each of next 2 sts, fpdc around next st, hdc in last st, turn. (6 hdc, 8 fpdc)

Row 2: Ch 2, bpdc (see Stitch Guide) around next st, hdc in each of next 2 sts, bpdc around each of next 6 sts, hdc in each of next 2 sts, bpdc around next st, hdc in top of beg ch-2, turn.

Rows 3 & 4: Rep rows 1 and 2. Row 5: Ch 2, fpdc around next st, hdc in each of next 2 sts, sk next 3 sts, fptr around each of next 3 sts, fptr around each of 3 sk sts, hdc in each of next 2 sts, fpdc around next st, hdc in top of beg ch-2, turn. (6 hdc, 2 fpdc, 6 fptr)

Row 6: Rep row 2.

Rep rows 1–6 until piece measures 171/2 [181/2] inches, ending with row 2 or 4.

Next row: Ch 1, sc in each of first 2 sts, sc dec (see Stitch

Guide) in next 2 sts, *sc in each of next 2 sts, sc dec in next 2 sts, rep from * across to last 2 sts, 2 sc in each of last 2 sc, turn. (11 sc)

Next row: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. Rep last row until piece measures 19 [20] inches. Fasten off.

BODY

Getting started: Overlap 6 rows of each end of Band.

Rnd 1: With RS facing and working in ends of rows, sc join (see Spe

Crown

Rnd dc/fptr1: Ch dec 3, (see fptr Specialin next Stitch-st, es) (32 around,[34] fptr) join around first fptr. Rnd 2: Ch 3, fptr in next st, [ fptr dec (see Special Stitches) around next 2 sts] around, join around first fptr. (16 [17] fptr)

Size Small/Medium Only

Rnd 3: Rep row 2. Leaving a long tail, fasten off. (8 sts)

Size Medium/Large Only

Rnd [3]: Ch 3, [fptr dec around next 2 sts] around, join around first fptr. ([8] sts)

Both Sizes

Weave tail through sts. Pull tightly and secure.

EDGING

With 2 strands held tog, sc join yarn in first st of row 1 of Band,

reverse sc (see Stitch Guide) in each st, working in ends of rows across lower edge, reverse sc evenly sp across. Fasten off. Center button on overlapped ends and sew in place.
