MATERIALS

• Caron Simply Soft medium (worsted) weight acrylic yarn (6 oz/315 yds/170g per skein): 8 skeins #9703 bone 3 skeins each #9780 robin’s egg and #9702 off-white • Size K/101/2/6.5mm Tunisian crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge • Sizes H/8/5mm and I/9/5.5mm

GAUGE

Size K hook: 13 TSS = 3 inches; 13 rows = 4 inches

PATTERN NOTES

Weave in loose ends as work progresses. Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated. Chain-2 at beginning of row counts as first half double crochet unless otherwise stated. When working Tunisian Simple Stitch, change colors according to chart, introducin­g new colors on forward rows. Bring new color under previous color to avoid holes. To change color on a return row, work until 1 loop of previous color remains, yarn over with next color and draw through 2 loops.

Tunisian Simple Stitch

(TSS): Insert hook from right to left under next vertical bar, yo, draw lp through and leave on hook.

Work loops off hook (work

lps off hook): Yo, draw through 1 lp on hook, [yo, draw through 2 lps on hook] across. Last lp on hook counts as first lp of next row. Cable: Sk next 3 sts, fptr (see Stitch Guide) on each of next 3 sts, fptr on each sk st in order. Single crochet join (sc join): Place slip knot (see illustrati­on) on hook, insert hook in indicated st, yo, draw up a lp, yo, draw through 2 lps on hook.

Make 3. Foundation Row (Row 1 of Chart): With bone and Tunisian hook, ch 52.

A: Sk first ch, [insert hook in back lp of next ch, yo, draw up a lp, retaining lp on hook] across, (52 sts); B: Work lps off hook.

Rows 2–190: Work TSS according to chart, [Rep rows 2–19 of chart] 10 times, then rep rows 2–10. Row 191: A: With bone, TSS across. B: work lps off hook. Row 192: Sk first st, [insert hook from right to left under next vertical bar, yo, draw lp through bar and lp on hook] across. Fasten off.

ASSEMBLY

With tapestry needle and length of bone, holding WS of Panels tog, whipstitch edges (see illustrati­on) of Argyle Panels between Cable Panels.

BORDER

Rnd 1: With I hook, sc join bone in any corner, 2 sc in same st, *sc in each st around to next corner**, 3 sc in corner, rep from * around ending last rep at **, join.

Rnd 2: Ch 1, [sc in each st around to corner st, 3 sc in center corner st] around, join in beg sc. Fasten off.
