• Classic Elite Liberty Wool light (light worsted) weight wool yarn (13/4 oz/122 yds/ 50g per ball): Man’s: 1 ball #7883 smokey bonfire and 2 balls #78196 root beer Woman’s: 1 ball each #7805 magenta and #7834 lilac daydream Child’s: 1 ball each #7879 midnight blue and #7884 patchwork calico • Size H/8/5mm crochet hook or size

GAUGE

3 dc rnds of Crown = 31/2 inches

PATTERN NOTES

Any size Hat can be made using any of the 3 stitch patterns, resulting in 9 variations from a single pattern. Work Crown for size needed and then skip to instructio­ns for Body and Ribbing in same size. Carry yarn not in use on wrong side of Hat. Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated. Weave in loose ends as work progresses. Chain-3 at beginning of round counts as first double crochet unless otherwise stated. Chain-4 at beginning of round counts as first double crochet and chain-1 unless otherwise stated. Chain-2 at beginning of round counts as first half double crochet unless otherwise stated.

HATS CROWN All Sizes

Rnd 1 (RS): With solid color ch 4, 11 dc in 4th ch from hook, join (see Pattern Notes) in 4th ch of beg ch-4. (12 dc) Rnd 2: Ch 3 (see Pattern Notes), dc in same st as beg ch-3, 2 dc in each dc around, join in beg ch-3. (24 dc) Rnd 3: Ch 3, dc in same st as beg ch-3, dc in next dc, [2 dc in next dc,

dc in next dc] around, join in beg ch-3. (36 dc)

Rnd 4: Ch 3, dc in same st as beg ch-3, dc in each of next 2 dc, [2 dc in next dc, dc in next 2 dc] around, join in beg ch-3. (48 dc)

Rnd 5: Ch 3, dc in same st as beg ch-3, dc in each of next 3 dc, [2 dc in next dc, dc in next 3 dc] around, join in beg ch-3. (60 dc)

Woman’s & Man’s Sizes Only

Rnd 6: Ch 3, dc in same st as beg ch-3, dc in each of next 4 dc, [2 dc in next dc, dc in next 4 dc] around, join in beg ch-3. ([72] dc)

Man’s Size Only

Rnd 7: Ch 3, dc in same st as beg ch-3, dc in each of next 5 dc, [2 dc in next dc, dc in next 5 dc] around, join in beg ch-3. ([84] dc)

CHILD’S HAT Body

Rnd 1 (RS): With variegated, ch 1, sc in back lps (see Stitch Guide) of each st around, join, turn. (60 sts) Rnd 2 (WS): Ch 4 (see Pattern

Notes), sk next sc, [dc in next sc, ch 1, sk next sc] around, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-4, turn.

Rnd 3 (RS): With solid color, ch 1, sc in dc, [working in front of next ch-1 sp, dc in next sc 2 rnds below, sc in next dc] around, join in beg sc, do not turn.

Rnds 4-21: [Rep Rnds 1–3] 6 times. At the end of Rnd 21, fasten off variegated only.

Ribbing

Rnd 1 (RS): Ch 2 (see Pattern Notes), hdc in each of next 2 sts, fphdc (see Stitch Guide) around next st, [hdc in each of next 3 sts, fphdc around next st] around, join in top of beg ch-2. Rnd 2: Ch 2, fphdc around next st, [hdc in next st, fphdc around next st] around, join in top of beg ch-2.

Rnds 3 & 4: Rep rnd 2. At the end of rnd 4, fasten off.

WOMAN’S HAT Body

Rnd 1 (RS): With variegated, ch 1, sc in back lps (see Stitch Guide) of each st around, join, turn. (72 sts) Rnd 2 (WS): Ch 4 (see Pattern

Notes), sk next sc, [dc in next sc, ch 1, sk next sc] around, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-4, turn.

Rnd 3 (RS): With solid color, ch 1, sc in dc, [working in back of ch-1 sp, dc in next sc 2 rnds below, sc in next dc] around, join in beg sc, do not turn. Rnds 4–24: [Rep rnds 1–3] 7 times. At the end of rnd 24, fasten off variegated only.

Ribbing

Rnds 1–4: Rep rnds 1–4 of Child’s Hat Ribbing. At the end of rnd 4, fasten off.

MAN’S HAT Body

Rnd 4: Rep rnd 1. Rnd 5: Rep rnd 2.
