GAUGE

15 sts = 4 inches; 8 rows = 4 inches

PATTERN NOTES

Weave in loose ends as work progresses. Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated. Chain-3 at beginning of row counts as first double crochet unless otherwise stated. Garment is worked in one piece to armholes, then back and each front are finished separately.

When counting stitches, each shell and each V-st count as 3 stitches (ch-1 space of V-st counts as 1 stitch). When there are insufficie­nt stitches to complete a shell or V-st due to shaping, dc in each available st and space until stitch pattern can be resumed.

SPECIAL STITCHES

Single crochet join (sc join): Place slip knot on hook, insert hook in indicated st, yo and pull up a lp, yo and draw through both lps on hook. V-stitch (V-st): (Dc, ch 1, dc) in indicated st or sp. Shell: Work 3 dc in indicated st or sp. Beginning single decrease (bsd): Ch 2, dc in next st or sp. (One stitch decreased). Ending single decrease (esd): Double crochet decrease (dc dec –see Stitch Guide) in last 2 stitches. (One stitch decreased) Beginning double decrease (bdd): Ch 2, dc dec in next 2 stitches. (Two stitches decreased) Ending double decrease (edd): Dc dec in last 3 stitches. (Two stitches decreased).
