MATERIALS

• Lily Sugar’n Cream Original medium (worsted) weight cotton yarn (21/2 oz/120 yds/71g per ball): 2 balls #101612 country yellow 1 ball each #100004 ecru, #101042 overcast, #100082 jute and #101130 warm brown • Size H/8/5mm crochet hook or

size needed to obtain gauge • Tapestry needle • Stitch marker

GAUGE

3 split sc = 1 inch; 4 split sc rnds = 1 inch

PATTERN NOTES

Work in continuous rounds. Mark last stitch of round. Do not turn or join unless otherwise stated. The Colorwork Chart is read from right to left. It shows the color to work each split single crochet stitch in for that round. Chart is for front only. Join with slip stitch unless otherwise stated.

SPECIAL STITCH

Sc in center of lower V of st (see illustrati­on).

HOT PAD FRONT

Rnd 1: With country yellow, ch 70, join (see Pattern Notes) in first ch being careful not to twist ch, ch 1, sc in first ch, working in back bar of ch (see illustrati­on), sc in each ch around to last ch, hdc in last ch. Place marker (see Pattern Notes) in bottom of hdc as last st. (70 sts)

Rnds 2 & 3: Split sc (see Special Stitch) in each st around. Rnds 4–38: Working split sc in each sc around, change color (see Stitch Guide) according to Colorwork Chart (see Pattern

Notes) across first 35 sts, with country yellow split sc in each rem st around. Fasten off at end of last rnd.

FINISHING

Block with image centered. Working in back lps (see Stitch

Guide), sew top and bottom edges closed with matching yarn. CW
