FINISHED MEASUREMEN­T Ornament fits over 4-inch diameter plastic ornament MATERIALS • Red Heart Super Saver medium (worsted) weight acrylic yarn (7 oz/ 364 yds/198g per skein): 50 yds #390 hot red 4 yds #312 black 2 yds #321 gold • Size F/5/3.75mm crochet hook or

size needed to obtain gauge • Tapestry needle • 4-inch diameter clear plastic

ornament • 1/4-inch-wide red ribbon:

12 inches • Glue • Stitch marker GAUGE Rnds 1–8 = 4 inches in diameter PATTERN NOTES Weave in loose ends as work progresses. Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated. Do not join rounds unless otherwise stated. Use stitch marker to mark rounds and move marker as work progresses. Chain-3 at beginning of round counts as first double crochet unless otherwise stated. ORNAMENT

Rnd 1: Beg at bottom of ornament, with red, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, do not join, place marker (see Pattern Notes). (6 sc)

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sc)

Rnd 3: [2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc] around. (18 sc)

Rnd 4: [2 sc in next sc, sc in each of next 2 sc] around. (24 sc)

Rnd 5: [2 sc in next sc, sc in each of next 3 sc] around. (30 sc)

Rnd 6: [2 sc in next sc, sc in each of next 4 sc] around. (36 sc)

Rnd 7: [2 sc in next sc, sc in each of next 5 sc] around. (42 sc)

Rnd 8: [2 sc in next sc, sc in each of next 6 sc] around. (48 sc)

Rnds 9–15: Sc in each sc around.

Rnd 16: [ Sc dec (see Stitch Guide) in next 2 sc, sc in each of next 6 sc] around, join (see Pattern Notes) in next sc. Fasten off. (42 sc)

Rnd 17: Join black in same st as joining of previous rnd,

ch 3 (see Pattern Notes), dc in each sc around, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. Fasten off.

Rnd 18: Join red with sc in any dc, sc in each of next 4 dc, sc dec in next 2 dc, [sc in each of next 5 dc, sc dec in next 2 dc] around. (36 sc) Rnd 19: Sc in each sc around, insert plastic ornament.

Rnd 20: [Sc dec in next 2 sc, sc in each of next 4 sc] around. (30 sc) Rnd 21: Sc in each sc around. Rnd 22: [Sc dec in next 2 sc, sc in each of next 3 sc] around. (24 sc)

Rnd 23: [Sc dec in next 2 sc, sc in each of next 2 sc] around. (18 sc)

Rnd 24: [Sc dec in next 2 sc] around, join in next sc, leaving 8-inch length, fasten off. (9 sc) With tapestry needle, weave through rem sts of rnd 24, pull to close opening at top of ornament, secure, fasten off.

BELT BUCKLE

Holding 2 strands of gold tog, ch 16, join to form a ring, fasten off rem lengths. Shape ch in buckle shape and glue over rnd 17 of ornament.

HANGER

With tapestry needle, insert ribbon in hole at top of ornament, knot ends of ribbon tog. Trim as desired. CW
