PATTERN NOTES

Basket is worked with 2 strands held together throughout with larger hook. Facial features are worked with 1 strand and smaller hook. Weave in loose ends as work progresses. Do not join rounds unless otherwise stated. Mark first stitch of each round. Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.

BASKET

Rnd 1: With size J hook and 2 strands of color A held tog (see Pattern Notes), make a slip ring (see illustration), ch 1, 6 sc in ring, tighten ring. Place marker (see Pattern Notes) in first st, move marker up as you work. (6 sts) Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in each st around. (12 sts) Rnd 3: *Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, rep from * around. (18 sts) Rnd 4: *Sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st, rep from * around. (24 sts) Rnd 5: *Sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st, rep from * around. (30 sts) Rnd 6: *Sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st, rep from * around. (36 sts) Rnd 7: *Sc in next 5 sts, 2 sc in next st, rep from * around. (42 sts) Rnd 8: *Sc in next 6 sts, 2 sc in next st, rep from * around. (48 sts) Rnd 9: *Sc in next 7 sts, 2 sc in next st, rep from * around. (54 sts) Rnd 10: *Sc in next 8 sts, 2 sc in next st, rep from * around. (60 sts) Rnd 11: *Sc in next 9 sts, 2 sc in next st, rep from * around. (66 sts) Rnd 12: Working in back lps (see Stitch Guide), sc in each st around. (66 sts) Rnd 13: Working in both lps, sc in each st around. (66 sts) Rnds 14–26: Sc in each st around. Change color (see Stitch Guide) to color B in last st of rnd 26. Rnd 27: Sc in each st around. Rnd 28: Working in back lps, sc in each st around, join (see Pattern Notes) in first st. Fasten off. Rnd 29: With rnd 28 facing, join color B in front lp (see Stitch Guide) of first st, ch 1, hdc in front lp of same st and in each st around, join in first hdc. Fasten off.

Facial Features Eye

Make 2. Rnd 1: With size 7 hook and 1 strand of color B (see Pattern Notes), make a slip ring, ch 1, 6 sc in ring, tighten ring. (6 sts) Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in each st around, join in first st. Leaving a long tail for sewing, fasten off. (12 sts)

Mouth

With size 7 hook and 1 strand of color C, ch 11, working in back bars (see illustration), sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Leaving a long tail for sewing, fasten off.

Nose

Row 1 (RS): With size 7 hook and 1 strand of color D, ch 4, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across, turn. (3 sts)
