MATERIALS

• Omega Sinfonia light (DK) weight mercerized cotton yarn (31/2 oz/ 218 yds/100g per skein): 1 skein each #801 white, #823

garnet and #880 green • Omega size 10 crochet cotton (173 yds per ball):

1 ball #110 white • Size F/5/3.75mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge • Tapestry needle

GAUGE

9 sc = 2 inches; 11 rows = 2 inches

PATTERN NOTES

When changing color, carry and work over color not in use on wrong side of piece. Do not cut or fasten off unless otherwise stated. Each Chart square depicts 1 single crochet stitch. Refer to Color Key for color changes in each row. Weave in loose ends as work progresses. Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.

HOT PAD FRONT

With white, ch 37. Row 1 (RS): Sc in 2nd ch from

hook and in each ch across, turn. (36 sc) Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in each of first 10 sts, change color (see Pat

tern Notes and Stitch Guide) to garnet in last sc, sc in each of next 8 sts, change color to green, sc in each of next 8 sts, change color to white, sc in each of last 10 sts, turn. Rows 4–36: Referring to Chart (see illustrati­on and Pattern Notes) for color changes, ch 1, sc in each st across. At end of row 34, cut garnet and green. At end of last row, do not fasten off white.

Edging

With RS facing, ch 12, sl st in 12th ch from hook (hanging lp

made), work 34 hdc evenly sp across each side, with 3 hdc in each corner, join (see Pattern

Notes) in first hdc and fasten off. (148 hdc)

BACK

With white, ch 37. Row 1: Rep row 1 of front. Rows 2–36: Rep row 2 of front.

Edging

With RS facing, work 34 hdc evenly sp across each side, with 3 hdc in each corner, join in first hdc and fasten off. (148 hdc)

ASSEMBLY

Block to finished measuremen­t. Referring to photo, with size 10 thread, embroider flowers on garnet patches with lazy daisy stitches (see illustrati­on) and French knots (see illustrati­on). With WS of front and back held tog, whipstitch (see illus

tration) edges tog in back lps only.
