Make 50 pink; 52 amethyst; 48 black; & 25 each blue & green. Row 1: Beg at tip of triangle, ch 4, dc in 4th ch (triangle tip) from hook (3 sk chs count as first dc), turn. (2 dc) Row 2: Ch 3 (see Pattern Notes), 2 dc in next st, turn. (3 dc)
Row 3: Ch 3, 2 dc in next st, dc in last st, turn. (4 dc)
Row 4: Ch 3, 2 dc in next st, dc in each st across, turn. (5 dc) Row 5: Rep row 4. (6 dc) Row 6: Ch 3, 2 dc in next st, dc in each st across to last 2 sts, 2 dc in next st, dc in last st, turn. (8 dc) Rows 7–9: [Rep row 6] 3 times. Do not turn after row 9. Following Square Assembly Diagram for triangle color placement, position triangle 8 above triangle 1 matching long side edges, with amethyst and working through both layers with a loose tension, beg at point A, work LESS
(see Special Stitches) in back lp of marked ch-1 of row 9, LESS in each of next 19 sts, LESS in marked ch-1 at triangle tip, sk next dc of triangle 8, dc in next dc of triangle 1 (tip made for Square
Center), place triangle 2 against triangle 1, working through both layers, LESS in next marked ch-1, LESS in each of next 19 sts, insert hook in next marked ch-1 (point
B), drop amethyst, with black, yo, pull through lp on hook to change color. Fasten off amethyst. Continue to work Corner across triangle 1 row 9 using black.
First Corner—Left Side
Row 1: With black, sc in back lp and back bar (see illustration) of first dc, sc through back lp and back bar of each of next 12 sts, sc
dec (see Stitch Guide) in next st and sl st of seam, turn. (14 sc)
Row 2: Ch 1, sc dec in first 2 sts, sc in each st across to last 2 sc, sc dec in last 2 sts, turn. (12 sc)
Rows 3–6: Rep row 2. (4 sc) Row 7: Ch 1, sc dec in first 2 sts, sc dec in last 2 sts, turn. (2 sc)

Row 9 (Corner Left Side
Edging): Ch 1 (corner tip), work 10 sc evenly sp in ends of rows along left side edge to last LESS st of seam, sl st in seam. Fasten off. (10 sc, 1 sl st)
First Corner—Right Side
Row 1: With RS facing on opposite side edge of same corner, with black slip knot on hook, sl st between top 2 lps of last LESS st of seam, work 10 sc evenly sp in ends of rows to beg ch-1 of Left Side Edge, ch 1, join to first sc of left side edge. Fasten off. (10 sc, 1 ch-1, 2 sl sts) Next Seams Working in clockwise direction, position next triangle (amethyst
triangle 3) against triangle 2, beg at point C, work LESS in back lp of marked ch-1 of row 9, LESS in each of next 19 sts, LESS in marked ch-1 at triangle tip, sk next dc of previous triangle, dc in next dc of next amethyst triangle, place triangle 4 against triangle 3, working through both layers, LESS in next marked ch-1, LESS in each of next 19 sts, insert hook in next marked ch-1 at end of row 9 (point E), drop amethyst, with black, yo, pull through lp on hook to change color. Continue to work Corner as before across row 9 of triangle 3 using black. Rep in same manner to add triangles 5–7 and add rem 2 corners, joining triangle 7 to triangle 8 and ending at point H. Fasten off. Square Center With RS facing, thread tapestry needle with 8-inch length of amethyst, insert needle from bottom to top up through back bar and back lp of amethyst triangle dc tip, sk next colored triangle, working clockwise, [insert needle from bottom to top up through 3rd bar and back lp of next amethyst triangle dc tip, sk next colored triangle] 3 times, pull ends tightly until tips meet in center, knot to secure, pull ends through center to WS, continuing clockwise from WS, [insert needle from bottom to top up through 3rd bar and closest facing lp of next adjacent colored triangle dc tip] 4 times, pull ends tight and knot to secure. Fasten off.
2-Color Squares
Make 12. Following Square Assembly Diagram for triangle color placement, work same as for 5-color squares using black to work LESS seams, do not fasten off black after working marked ch-1 at end of row 9, continue to complete corner and edging using black. With black, work Square Center, working into black and colored triangle tips in same manner as for 5-color triangle square.
FINISHING
Block all squares to 111/2 inches x 111/2 inches and allow to dry.
Make Horizontal Rows
Place 2nd square of horizontal row below first square of same horizontal row, matching long side edges and colors as shown in Assembly Diagram. Working through both layers, with black, join (counts as
1 LESS) in ch-1 corner, work 10 LESS in each of next 10 sc across corner, LESS in next sl st, LESS in next sl st changing color to match next triangle, LESS in each of next 14 dc, LESS in next sl st changing to black, LESS in next sl st, LESS in each of next 10 sc, LESS in corner ch-1 sp. Fasten off. Following placement order shown in Assembly Diagram, rep seam 3 times more to complete Horizontal Row 1. Rep in same manner to join 20 rem squares to seam all Horizontal Rows.
Join Horizontal Rows
Place Horizontal Row 1 above Horizontal Row 2 matching long edges and colors as shown in Assembly Diagram, join (counts
as 1 LESS) in ch-1 corner at right side edge, *work 10 LESS in each of next 10 corner sc, LESS in next sl st, LESS in next sl st changing color to match triangle, LESS in each of next 14 dc, LESS in next sl st changing to black, LESS in next sl st, LESS in each of next 10 sc, LESS in end sl st of seam; rep from * 5 times, ending last LESS in ch-1 corner. Fasten off black. Rep in same manner to add rem 3 horizontal rows as shown in Assembly Diagram. Border Rnd 1: With black, dc join (see
Special Stitches) to any corner ch-1, dc in same ch-1, work dc evenly sp in back lp of each st and in each seam around, working (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in each corner
ch-1 and inc if necessary to lie flat, end with (2 dc, ch 2) in same ch-1 as beg dc, join to first st of rnd.
Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in each dc around, working (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in each ch-2 sp of corners, join to first dc of rnd. Fasten off.
