Sleepy Baby Doll

PATTERN NOTES

Weave in loose ends as work progresses and before stuffing each section except beginning tail of Arms and end tails of Bunting and Hands. Do not join rounds or turn unless otherwise stated. Place stitch marker at beginning of rounds and move up as each round is completed. Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated. Chain-2 at beginning of row counts as first half double crochet unless otherwise stated.

DOLL HEAD

Rnd 1: With size F hook and flesh, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Do not join, place marker (see Pattern Notes). (6 sc) Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sc)

Rnd 3: [Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc] around. (18 sc)

Rnd 4: [Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc] around. (24 sc)

Rnd 5: [Sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc] around. (30 sc) Rnd 6: Sc in each sc around. Rnd 7: [Sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc] around. (36 sc) Rnd 8: Rep rnd 6. Rnd 9: [Sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc] around. (42 sc) Rnd 10: Rep rnd 6. Rnd 11: [Sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc] around. (48 sc)

BUNTING

Rnd 1: With size F hook, join salmon in any st, ch 1, sc in same sc, sc in next 17 sc. (18 sc) Rnd 2: With size G hook, 2 hdc in each sc around. (36 hdc) Rnd 3: Hdc in each hdc around. Rnd 4: Hdc in next 6 hdc (back), ch 6, sk next 6 hdc (arm opening), hdc in next 12 hdc (front), ch 6, sk next 6 hdc (arm opening), hdc in next 6 hdc (back). (24 hdc, 2 ch-6 sps)

Rnd 5: Hdc in next 5 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc, hdc in next 6 chs, 2 hdc in next hdc, hdc in next 10 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc, hdc in next 6 chs, 2 hdc in next hdc, hdc in next 5 hdc. (40 hdc) Rnd 6: Hdc in each hdc around. Rnd 7: [Hdc in next 4 sc, 2 hdc in next sc] around. (48 hdc) Rnd 8: Rep rnd 6. Rnd 9: [Hdc in next 7 sc, 2 hdc in next sc] around. ARM

Make 2.

Rnd 1: With size G hook, leaving 12-inch tail, join salmon in 3rd ch at arm opening, hdc in same hdc, hdc in next 2 hdc, hdc in corner of arm opening, hdc in next 6 hdc, hdc in corner of arm opening, hdc in next 3 hdc. (14 hdc)

Rnds 2–8: Hdc in each hdc around, join in beg hdc on last rnd, fasten off.

Hand

Rnd 9: Working in back lps (see Stitch Guide) with size F hook, join flesh in any st, ch 1, sc in same st and in each st around. (14 sc)

Rnd 10: [Sc in next 5 sc, sc dec in next 2 sts] twice. (12 sc) Rnd 11: Sc in each sc around. Rnd 12: Sc in each sc around, join in beg sc, fasten off, leaving 8-inch tail.

Sleeve Trim

With RS facing and size F hook, join white in any unworked front

lp (see Stitch Guide) of rnd 8 of Arm, ch 1, sc in same st, ch 3, [sc in next unworked front lp, ch 3] around, join to beg sc, fasten off.

HAT

Row 1 (RS): With size G hook and salmon, ch 31, hdc in 3rd ch from hook, hdc in each rem ch, turn. (30 hdc) Row 2: Ch 2 (see Pattern Notes), working in front lps, hdc in each of next 28 hdc, hdc in top of beg ch-2, turn. (30 hdc) Rows 3–10: Ch 2, hdc in each hdc across. Row 11: With WS tog, fold Hat in half, matching edges of row 10, ch 1, working through both thicknesse­s, sc in each st across, fasten off. (15 sc)

Trim

Row 1: With RS facing and size F hook, and working in back lps of row 2, join white to first st, ch 1, sc in same st, [ch 3, sc in next st] across to last st, fasten off.

Ties & Edging

Row 1: With size G hook and salmon, ch 12, with RS facing, sc evenly along bottom edge of Hat, ch 12, fasten off.

FINISHING

1. Stuff Head firmly. Stuff Bunting fully, but not too tightly; with 12-inch tail, weave through rem sts on last rnd, pull tightly to close and weave in end. 2. With 12-inch tail from rnd 1 of Arm, sew Arm opening between Arm and Bunting closed. 3. Stuff Arm lightly. Stuff Hand fully, but not too tightly; using 8-inch tail, weave through rem sts, pull tightly to close and weave in end. 4. Make pompom by wrapping 36-inch length of salmon around cardboard along 1-inch side. Trim yarn on both edges. Tie 12-inch strand of salmon securely around middle. Trim pompom and attach to back of Hat. 5. With photo as guide and floss, embroider straight stitches

(see illustrati­on) with brown for closed eyes and with pink for mouth. 6. Place Hat on Head and secure in place if desired.
