MATERIALS

• Omega Mimosa fine (sport) weight cotton/ rayon yarn (31/2 oz/ 240 yds/100g per skein):

5 [6, 6] skeins #70 navy • Size F/5/3.75mm crochet hook or

size needed to obtain gauge • Tapestry needle • Stitch markers

GAUGE

In Lace Pattern: 4 cls = 51/2 inches; 5 rows = 4 inches, after blocking Take time to check gauge.

PATTERN NOTES

Finished garment length is 2 to 3 inches longer than finished pieces due to the nature of the yarn. Garment does not close in front. Join with slip stitch unless otherwise indicated. Chain-4 at beginning of row counts as first treble crochet unless otherwise stated. Weave in loose ends as work progresses.

SPECIAL STITCHES

Yo twice, insert hook in indicated st and pull up a lp, [yo and pull through 2 lps] twice, leave rem lp on hook.

Cluster (cl): P-tr in first indicated st, p-tr in next indicated

st, yo and pull through all 3 lps on hook. Bobble cluster (bobble cl):

P-tr in first indicated st, 3 p-tr in next sc, p-tr in next cl, yo and pull through all 6 lps on hook.

Join with single crochet

(join with sc): Place a slip knot on hook, insert hook in indicated st, yo and draw up a lp, yo and pull through both lps on hook.

TOP BACK

Ch 104 [116, 128]. Follow Lace Pattern (see Pattern Stitch) instructio­ns rows 1–5. (17 [19, 21] cls) Rep rows 2–5 until piece measures 26 [27, 29] inches in length, ending with a rep of row 2 or 4. Last row: Ch 1, sc in same st, [ch 5, sc in top of next cl] across. Fasten off. (17 [19, 21] ch-5 sps)

FRONT Make 2.

Ch 44 [56, 56]. Work as for Back. (7 [9, 9] cls at end of first row)

ASSEMBLY

Hold Back and right Front RS tog, aligning outside edges. Sew shoulder seam. Rep for left Front. Place marker on side edges 10 [11, 12] inches from shoulder seam for armhole opening. Sew side seams together from marker to hem.

Border

Rnd 1: With RS facing, join with sc (see Special Stitches) at bottom of side seam. Work sc evenly around entire piece. Join

(see Pattern Notes) to first sc. Rnd 2: Ch 1, (sc, ch 3, sc) in same st, *sk 1 sc, (sc, ch 3, sc) in next sc; rep from * around, join in first sc. Fasten off. Joining yarn at side seam, rep border in same fashion on armholes. Block to finished measuremen­ts.

Dress up a T-shirt and jeans with this pretty lacy topper. This is a great “first garment” pattern to make for yourself.
