and #615 yellow light • Size C/2/2.75mm crochet hook • Tapestry needle • Stitch markers • 2-inch retractable measuring

tape • Fiberfill

GAUGE

Gauge is unimportant for the pincushion. See pattern note regarding measuring tape.

PATTERN NOTES

Weave in loose ends as work progresses. Do not join rounds unless otherwise indicated. Place stitch marker and move as work progresses. Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated. If a larger measuring tape is used, simply increase the number of rounds to correct size before working evenly to build the sides. Use care to leave enough stitches unworked for the size of pull tab. Because some people crochet more tightly than others, it is important to check that measuring tape cover will fit snugly. To check sizing, place measuring tape on top of crocheted piece before beginning round 9. If measuring tape is larger than the round of crocheted piece, work another round, increasing as in the pattern. If crocheted piece is wider than the measuring tape, unravel a round. The ideal is to have the diameter of crocheted piece and measuring tape as close as possible, as you build sides smaller rather than larger; otherwise the measuringtape will move around inside its cover. If the cover is slightly loose, stuff the top and sides with a thin layer of fiberfill so it fits more snugly.

ASSEMBLY

Sew measuring tape cover top and bottom halves tog. Position top on the bottom so that the unworked sts match to allow sp for tape pull tab. Thread rem length of top on tapestry needle and sew tog with invisible seam

(see illustration), pausing about halfway to insert measuring tape, button side down. Use care that tab is aligned between unworked sts. Continue to sew to enclose measuring tape, tucking in a little fiberfill (see Pattern Notes) if cover seems a bit too large. Sew small and large leaves to bottom of flower, arranging them as desired. Sew flower on top of measuring tape cover (button release is on the bottom).
