PATTERN NOTES
Rug is worked with 2 strands of yarn held together throughout. Refer to Placement Diagram for joining sequence of Motifs of Center Strip and Outer Border. Do not weave in ends as work progresses. Weave in after piece is blocked. Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated. Chain-3 at beginning of round counts as first double crochet unless otherwise stated. Beginning in round 2, beginning fan, chain-1, front post treble crochet, chain-1 and next fan comprise first corner of each round. To easily determine where to join yarn at beginning of each round, join in chain-1 sp at right of front post treble crochet in first corner.
SPECIAL STITCHES
Beginning fan (beg fan): Ch 3 (see Pattern Notes), 2 dc in indicated sp. Fan: 3 dc in indicated sp. Front post treble crochet join (fptr join): Yo 2 times, insert hook from front side of work to back and to front again around post of indicated st of current Motif, yo and pull up a lp, [yo and draw through 2 lps] 2 times, insert hook in top of corresponding fptr of previous Motif or Border, yo, draw through all lps on hook. FINISHING
Weave in all ends but do not trim. Block piece to finished measurements, then trim ends after blocking. Trimming after blocking allows ends to be pulled and stretched so they won’t be too short and thereby caused to unravel.
