As winter gives way to spring and brightly colored crocuses peek out amid the last bits of snow, I make it a personal goal to see how many signs of the season I can find each day. Whether it’s the first buds on the forsythia bush or a glimpse of the sun shimmering through my window just a little earlier each day, it brings joy and a sense of newness to the landscape and my daily routine.

With winter receding and the thoughts of spending more time outdoors, you would think my crochet hook might be put aside or used a little less often. But each spring day and all of nature’s colors energize me even more to try a new stitch, color combination or yarn!

This issue is all about looking for the first signs of spring. We’ve dedicated a whole chapter to projects that are just perfect for shedding the winter doldrums and adding a bit of color to your day.
