MATERIALS

• Lily Sugar ’n Cream medium (worsted) weight cotton yarn (21/2 oz/ 120 yds/71g per ball): 1 ball each #101132 beach

glass and #100004 ecru • Size H/8/5mm crochet hook or

size needed to obtain gauge • Tapestry needle

GAUGE

19 dc = 41/2 inches; 10 sc/dc rows = 4 inches

PATTERN NOTES

Weave in loose ends as work progresses. Chain-1 at beginning of row counts as first single crochet unless otherwise stated. Chain-3 at beginning of row counts as first double crochet unless otherwise stated. Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.

SPECIAL STITCH

Single crochet join (sc join): Place a slip knot on hook, insert hook in indicated st, yo and draw up a lp, yo and pull through both lps on hook.

BATH MITT FRONT

Row 1 (RS): Ch 20, working in back bar of ch (see illustrati­on), sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn. (19 sts) Row 2: Ch 1 (see Pattern Notes), sk first st, sc in each st across, turn. Row 3: Ch 3 (see Pattern Notes), dc in each st across, turn. Row 4: Ch 1, sc in first sc, [sc in back lp (see Stitch Guide) of next sc, ch 8] across to last 2 sts, sc in both lps of next sc

and in top of turning ch, turn. (19 sc, 16 ch-8 lps)

Row 5: Ch 3, dc in both lps of next sc, working behind each ch-8 lp, dc in unworked lp of each sc across to last 2 sts, dc in both lps of next sc and in top of turning ch, turn. (19 dc) Rows 6–23: [Rep rows 4 and 5] 9 times. Rows 24 & 25: Rep row 2. Fasten off.

Chain stitch loops create the fluffy texture on one side of this generously sized bath mitt. Crocheted in washable cotton yarn, these can be made up in a variety of colors.

BACK

Rows 1–3: Rep rows 1–3 of Front. Rows 4–23: [Rep rows 2 and 3 of Front] 10 times.

FINISHING

Hold Front and Back with WS tog. Working through both thicknesse­s, sc join (see Special

Stitch) yarn in bottom corner of long side, *working in ends of rows, [sc in each sc row, 2 sc in each dc row] across to corner*, rotate work, working across top edge, 2 sc in first sc, sc in each st across to last st, 2 sc in last st, rotate work, rep between * down other long edge, ch 20, join (see

Pattern Notes) in same st as base of ch-20 for hanging lp. Fasten off. CW
