2 balls #226 natural (all parts) • Size 7/1.65mm steel crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge (all parts) • Size 17/12mm 32-inch circular

knitting needle (Part 2 only) • Size 19/15mm 24-inch circular

knitting needle (Part 2 only) • Size 35/20mm 32-inch circular

knitting needle (Part 2 only) • Hairpin lace loom (Part 3 only) • Tapestry needle (Part 3 only)

GAUGE

Rnds 1–8 = 3 inches

PATTERN NOTES

Rounds 1-18 (Part 1) is available in the June 2019 issue of Crochet World. Join with slip stitch unless otherwise stated. The even-numbered rounds of Broomstick lace are worked in loop groups of 5, 6 or 7.

SPECIAL STITCHES

Beginning shell (beg shell): [Ch 4 (counts as dc, ch 1), (dc, ch 1) 5 times, dc] in indicated sp or st.

Shell: [(Dc, ch 1) 6 times, dc] in indicated sp or st.

PATTERN

Rnd 19: With size 17 knitting needle, working from left to right, pull last lp onto knitting needle, [insert hook in next st, pull up lp and place on needle] around, turn. (300 lps)

Rnd 20: Working from right to left, remove lps from needle in groups of 5, insert hook in first 5-lp group (see A of illustrati­on), ch 1, 6 sc in first 5-lp group (see B

of illustrati­on), 6 sc in each 5-lp group around, join (see Pattern Notes) in first st. (360 sc)

Rnd 21: With size 19 knitting needle, working from left to right, pull last lp onto knitting needle, [insert hook in next st, pull up lp and place on needle] around, turn. (360 lps)

Rnd 22: Working from right to left, remove lps from needle in groups of 6, insert hook in first 6-lp group, ch 1, 7 sc in first 6-lp group, 7 sc in each 6-lp group around, join in first st. (420 sc)

Rnd 23: With size 35 knitting needle, working from left to right, pull last lp onto knitting needle, [insert hook in next st, pull up lp and place on needle] around, turn. (420 lps)

Rnd 24: Working from right to left, remove lps from needle in groups of 7, insert hook in first 7-lp group, ch 1, 8 sc in first 7-lp group, 8 sc in each 7-lp group around, join in first st. (480 sc)

Rnd 25: Sl st in next st, ch 1, sc in same st, *ch 5, sk 4 sts, sc in next st, ch 1, sk 2 sts**, sc in next st; rep from * around, ending last rep at **, join in first st.
