FINISHING
Using photo as guide for placement, whipstitch (see illustra
tion) eyes to front of head over rows 21–28, leaving 21/4 inches between eyes.
Whipstitch nose, mouth and tongue to muzzle. Sew rem facial pieces using lengths of matching yarn. With black and yarn needle, embroider 3 eyelashes on upper right or left side of each eye. Attach muzzle to front of head centered between eyes between rows 7–24. Sew inner ear pieces to each ear. Sew stripes to center top of head with large stripe at center and small stripe on each side of center. Holding RS of head pieces tog, and working through both thicknesses, whipstitch around outer edge leaving opening across top of head for stuffing; stuff nice and full, st top closed. Sew bottom edge of ears to top of head across ends of rows 32–43. Holding 2 paw pieces tog with row 1 facing up, join yarn at left end of row 1, whipstitch through both thicknesses around paw to other end of row 1, leaving a 12-inch length, fasten off. Stuff paw with fiberfill. To form toes, thread a length of petal pink yarn and leaving a tail on the back side of paw, bring needle from back up through front of paw between rows 4 and 5 about
1/3 of way in from outside edge. Bring yarn down over front of paw, wrapping around end of paw and up back of paw and insert needle through same st where you first brought it up through, bring around again over front of foot and up the back, slip needle under the yarn right where it first came up through, pull both tails of yarn tight to form toe, tie end of yarn to tail in a secure knot and weave in ends. Rep this process about 2/3 of way in from that same outside edge so that when finished 3 toes are sp evenly apart. Using tail left at top of paw and working through all thicknesses of both paw pieces, whipstitch paw to bottom of head so that they sit at outer edge of head.
