The Spiral Motifs are made using four strands of yarn concurrently, which can lead to impossible tangles. To keep tangles at a minimum, keep each ball of yarn in a separate plastic bag and place them in front of you in the order they will be used. Label each bag with the color letter and number (see Pattern Notes). Untangle the strands after finishing each motif. Spiral Motifs are joined as you go. If you would prefer to make several motifs without joining, leave a 12-inch length on segments 2 and 3 of round 4, and use these to join the motifs.
