PATTERN NOTES

BEANIE BODY
Rnd 1 (RS): With soft gray and smaller hook, make a slip ring (see illustration), ch 2, 10 dc in ring, join (see Pattern Notes) in first dc, pull end to close ring. (10 dc) Rnd 2: Ch 2 (see Pattern Notes), 2 dc in each st around, join in first dc. (20 dc)
Rnd 3: Ch 2, 2 dc in first st, dc in next st, *2 dc in next st, dc in next st, rep from * around, join in first dc. (30 dc)
Rnd 4: Ch 2, 2 dc in first st, dc in next 2 sts, *2 dc in next st, dc in next 2 sts, rep from * around, join in first dc. (40 dc)
Rnd 5: Ch 2, 2 dc in first st, dc in next 3 sts, *2 dc in next st, dc in next 3 sts, rep from * around, join in first dc. (50 dc)
Rnd 6: Ch 2, 2 dc in first st, dc in next 4 sts, *2 dc in next st, dc in next 4 sts, rep from * around, join in first dc. (60 dc)
Rnd 7: Ch 2, 2 dc in first st, dc in next 14 sts, *2 dc in next st, dc in next 14 sts, rep from * around, join in first dc. (64 dc) Change to black.
Rnds 8–11: Ch 2, dc in each st around, join in first dc. Change to berry. Rnd 12: With larger hook, hdc in each st around.
