PATTERN NOTES

Weave in loose ends as work progresses. Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.

SPECIAL STITCH

Cluster spike (cl spike): Sk next sc, insert hook in next sc on rnd directly below, yo, draw up a lp, yo, insert hook in same st, yo, draw up a lp, yo, draw through all 4 lps on hook.

MITTENS CUFF

Row 1: With berry, ch 9 (10, 11, 11), sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each rem ch across, turn. [8 (9, 10, 10) sc]

Rows 2– 22 (2–24, 2–28, 2–30): Ch 1, working in back lp (see Stitch Guide), sc in each st across, turn.

Row 23 (25, 29, 31): With opposite side of foundation ch next to last row of cuff, working through both lps of last row and opposite side of foundation ch, sl st through both thicknesse­s across, do not fasten off, turn cuff RS out.

HAND

Rnd 1 (RS): Ch 1, work 30 (32, 36, 40) sc evenly sp in ends of cuff rows, join (see Pattern Notes) in beg sc, turn. Rnd 2 (WS): Ch 1, sc in each sc around, join in beg sc, draw up a lp of bohemian, drop berry to WS, turn. Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in first sc,

cl spike (see Special Stitch) in next sc, [sc in next sc of rnd, cl spike in next sc] around, join in beg sc, draw up a lp of berry, drop bohemian to WS, turn.

Rnd 4: With berry, ch 1, sc in each st around, join in beg sc, turn.

Rnd 5: Ch 1, sc in each sc around, join in beg sc, turn.

Child Size

Rnd 6: Ch 1, sc in each of next 12 sc, ch 2, sk next 6 sc (thumb opening), sc in last 12 sc, join in beg sc, draw up a lp of bohemian, drop berry to WS, turn. (24 sc, 2 chs)

Rnd 7: With bohemian, ch 1, sc in first st, cl spike in next st, [sc in next st, cl spike in next st] 5 times, sc in next ch, cl spike in next ch, [sc in next st, cl spike in next st] 6 times, join in beg sc, draw up a lp of berry, drop bohemian to WS, turn. (26 sts)

Youth, Adult Small & Adult Large Sizes

Rnds (6 & 7, 6–10, 6–13): [Rep rnds 2 and 3] for youth once, [rep rnds 2–5] once for adult small and twice for adult large, ending last rep with rnd 2 for adult small and rnd 4 for adult large.

Youth & Adult Large Sizes

Rnd (8, 14): Ch 1, sc in each of next (13, 16) sc, ch 2, sk next (6, 8) sc (thumb opening), sc in last (13, 16) sc, join in beg sc, turn. (26 sc, ch-2 sp; 32 sc, ch-2 sp) Rnd (9, 15): Ch 1, sc in each st around, join in beg sc, turn. [(28, 34) sc]

Adult Small Size

Rnd (11): With bohemian, ch 1, sc in first sc, cl spike in next st, [sc in next st, cl spike in next st] 6 times, ch 2, sk next 8 sc (thumb opening), [sc in next st, cl spike in next st] 7 times, join in beg sc, draw up a lp of berry, drop bohemian to WS, turn. (28 sc, ch-2 sp) Rnd (12): Ch 1, sc in each st around, join in beg sc. (30 sc)
