Lost Mittens Garland

PATTERN NOTES

Separate colors and wind into individual balls. Weave in loose ends as work progresses. Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated. Work in continuous rounds, marking the beginning of each round with a stitch marker.

GARLAND MITTEN

Make 1 of each color: orange, turquoise, gold, navy, purple and lime green. Row 1: Ch 18, join (see Pattern Notes) in beg ch, ch 1 (does not count as a st), hdc in same ch and each rem ch. Do not join, place marker (see Pattern Notes). (18 hdc) Rnd 2: Fphdc (see Stitch Guide) around first st, bphdc (see Stitch Guide) around next st, *fphdc around next st, bphdc around next st, rep from * around. (9 fphdc, 9 bphdc)

Rnds 3 & 4: (Fphdc around next st, bphdc around next st) around.

Rnd 5: (Sc in each of next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st) around. (24 sc)

Rnds 6 & 7: Sc in each st around.

Rnd 8: 2 sc in first st, mark first inc st (marked st is beg of

rnd), sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, mark last inc st made, sc in each rem st around. (26 sc)

Rnd 9: Marking inc sts as in rnd 8, 2 sc in marked st, sc in each of next 3 sts, 2 sc in 2nd marked st, sc in each st around. (28 sc)

Rnd 10: Marking inc sts as in rnd 8, 2 sc in marked st, sc in each of next 5 sts, 2 sc in 2nd marked st, sc in each st around. (30 sc) Rnd 11: Ch 2, sk next 9 sts

(Thumb opening made), remove markers, sc in next st and in each rem st around. (21 sc, 2 chs)

Rnd 12: Sc in each of next 2 chs and each st around. (23 sc) Rnd 13: Sc dec (see Stitch

Guide) in next 2 sts, sc in each of next 10 sts, sc dec in next 2 sts, sc in each of next 9 sts. (21 sc)

Rnd 14: Sc in each st around. Rnd 15: Sc dec in next 2 sts, sc in each st around. (20 sc) Rnd 16: Sc in each st around. Rnd 17: *Sc dec in next 2 sts, sc in each of next 3 sts, rep from * around. (16 sc)

Rnd 18: *Sc dec in next 2 sts, sc in each of next 2 sts, rep from * around. (12 sc)

Rnd 19: *Sc dec in next 2 sts, sc in next st, rep from * around, join in beg sc, fasten off. (8 sc) With tapestry needle, gather rem sts to close opening.

Thumb

Rnd 1: Join yarn in first st of Thumb opening, ch 1, sc in same st, sc in each of next 8 sc, sc dec in next 2 chs. (10 sc) Rnds 2 & 3: Sc in each st around. Rnd 4: Sc dec in next 2 sts around, join in beg sc, fasten off. (5 sc) With tapestry needle, gather rem sts to close opening.

FINISHING

Using photo as guide for color placement and with olive green, *[ch 8, sl st in 3rd ch from hook (picot made)] twice, ch 5**, sl st in Mitten cuff on opposite side of Thumb, rep from *, attaching rem Mittens, rep from * ending at **, fasten off.

Pompoms

Following manufacturer’s directions, make 1 pompom of each color. Using photo as guide, attach pompoms to Mitten cuffs.
