Rainbow Cloud Coasters
Weave in loose ends as work progresses.
Coasters are worked in continuous rounds. Place marker in first stitch and move up as work progresses.
Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.
LARGE COASTER Make 1 each rosewood & sweet orange.
Rnd 1: With size E hook, ch 3, 7 sc in 3rd ch from hook (beg 2 sk chs count as first sc), place marker (see Pattern Notes). (8 sc) Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around. (16 sc)
Rnd 3: [2 sc in first sc, sc in next sc] around. (24 sc)
Rnd 4: [2 sc in first sc, sc in next 2 sc] around. (32 sc)
Rnd 5: [2 sc in first sc, sc in next 3 sc] around. (40 sc)
Rnd 6: [2 sc in first sc, sc in next 4 sc] around. (48 sc)
Rnd 7: [2 sc in first sc, sc in next 5 sc] around. (56 sc)
Rnd 8: [2 sc in first sc, sc in next 6 sc] around. (64 sc)
Rnd 9: [2 sc in first sc, sc in next 7 sc] around. (72 sc)
Rnd 10: [2 sc in first sc, sc in next 8 sc] around. (80 sc)
Rnd 11: [2 sc in first sc, sc in next 9 sc] around. (88 sc)
Rnd 12: [2 sc in first sc, sc in next 10 sc] around. (96 sc)
Rnd 13: [2 sc in first sc, sc in
next 11 sc] around, join (see Pattern Notes) in beg sc. Finish off. (104 sc)
MEDIUM COASTER
Make 1 each lemon & apple granny.
Work same as rnds 1–12 of Large Coaster. At end of last rnd, finish off.
SMALL COASTER
Make 1 each capri blue & deep violet.
Work same as rnds 1–11 of Large Coaster. At end of last rnd, finish off.
CLOUD BOX Bottom
Row 1: With size J hook and 2 strands of moon stone held tog, ch 13, hdc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn. (12 hdc)
Row 2: Ch 2 (does not count as a st here and throughout), hdc in each hdc. Finish off.
Side
Make 2.
Row 1: With size J hook and 2 strands of moon stone held tog, ch 5, hdc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn. (4 hdc)
Rows 2–5: Ch 2, hdc in each hdc. At end of last row, finish off.
Front/Back
Make 2.
Row 1: With size J hook and 2 strands of moon stone held tog, ch 14, hdc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn. (13 hdc)
Rows 2–5: Rep rows 2–5 of Side. ASSEMBLY & FINISHING
Block each piece to following measurements:
Bottom: 2 inches wide x 5 inches long. Side: 2 inches wide x 3 inches long.
Front/Back: 5 inches wide x 3 inches long.
With 2 strands of moon stone, whipstitch (see illustration)
Front/Back and Side pieces to Bottom, then whipstitch Sides to Front/Back.
Whipstitch Edges
Optional: For a more stable Box, cut small piece of plastic canvas same measurement as Bottom. Tack or glue in place on underside of Bottom.
Cloud Scallop
Rnd 1: With size J hook and working in ends of rows, join 1 strand of moon stone to row 1 at front lower right corner of Box, ch 3 (counts as first dc), working up side, 2 dc in same row, sl st in next row, 3 dc in next row, sl st in next row, sk last row. Working across top, 3 dc in first st, [sk next st, sl st in next st, sk next st, 3 dc in next st] 3 times. Working in ends of rows down other side, sl st in first row, [3 dc in next row, sl st in next row] twice. Finish off. Facial Features
Refer to photo for placement. With RS of Front facing, attach safety eyes in 4th row up from bottom. With black yarn or thread, work 2 short straight stitches (see illustration) for smile. CW
