Shopping Cart Caddy
PATTERN NOTES
Weave in loose ends as work progresses.
Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.
CADDY BODY
Row 1: With burgundy, ch 39, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each rem ch across, turn. (38 sc)
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn. Rows 3–65: Rep row 2. Row 66: Ch 1, sc in each of next 15 sc across body, turn.
FIRST STRAP
Row 1: Ch 1, sc in each of next 7 sc, turn.
Rows 2–12: Rep row 2.
Row 13: Ch 1, sc in each of next 2 sc, ch 3, sk next 3 sc (buttonhole), sc in each of next 2 sc, turn.
Row 14: Ch 1, sc in each of next 2 sc, sc in each of next 3 chs, sc in each of next 2 sc, turn.
Row 15: Ch 1, sc in each of next 7 sc, do not turn, working in side edge of sc strap rows, sl st in each row down to row 66 of body, do not turn.
2ND STRAP
Row 1: Sc in each of next 15 sc of row 66, turn.
Rows 2–16: Rep rows 2–16 of first strap.
Row 17: Working in rem sc of row 66, sc in each of next 8 sc. Fasten off.
EDGING
Rnd 1: Join (see Pattern Notes) navy in first sc of row 66, (sl st in each of next 8 sc, with navy at back of first strap and with lp on hook in front of strap, sl st in each of next 7 sc of strap across row 66) twice, sl st in each of rem 8 sc of row 66 (38
sl sts), ch 1 (corner), sc in side edge of each row down to foundation ch, ch 1 (corner), working in opposite side of foundation ch, sc in each of next 38 chs, ch 1 (corner), sc in side edge of each row to row 66 of body, ch 1
(corner), join in beg sl st. Fasten
off. (170 sc, 38 sl sts, 4 ch-1 sps)
FORMING POCKET
With WS facing, place caddy on flat surface with straps at top edge and place file folder on top of caddy with top edge of file folder at base of straps. Fold front piece up to line up with inner edge of folder (should
be shorter than back). Secure a stitch marker through both top edges to hold pocket in place. With tapestry needle and length of navy, whipstitch edge tog through back lps only (see illustration) down each side edge of body.
Place file folder in pocket and close caddy, positioning straps at back of caddy and mark position of each button. Sew buttons to back of caddy. CW
