2 balls each #102001 jute and

#101004 soft ecru

• Size G/6/4mm crochet hook or

• Tapestry needle

• 2 wooden beads

Rnd 16: Ch 2 (see Pattern Notes), 2 dc in same st as beg ch-2, sk next 2 sts, *(sc, 2 dc) in next st, sk next 2 sts, rep from * 27 times,

join (see Pattern Notes) in 2nd ch of beg ch-2. (28 fan sts)

Rnd 17: Ch 2, 2 dc in same st as beg ch-2, sk next 2 dc, * fan st (see

Special Stitch) in next sc, sk next 2 dc, rep from * around, join in 2nd ch of beg ch-2. (28 fan sts)

Rnds 18–37: Rep rnd 17.

Rnd 38: Ch 1, sc in same st as joining, sc in each of next 2 dc, (sc in next sc, sc in each of next 2 dc) around, join in beg sc. (84 sc)

Rnds 39–41: Ch 1, sc in each sc around, join in beg sc. At the end of rnd 41, leaving a 24-inch length of soft ecru, change color to jute, fasten off soft ecru.

Rnd 42: Sl st in each sc around, join in beg sl st. Fasten off. (84 sl sts)

TIE

With jute, ch 100, leaving a 12-inch length, fasten off.

Place 8 markers on Purse between rnds 36 and 37 in indicated sc sts only of rnd 36 starting at the beg of rnd 36 as follows: 7th, 25th, 37th, 40th, 46th, 49th, 61st and 79th.

Weave the Tie in sps between rnds above marked sc sts, insert in at 46 (left edge center front of

purse), out at 49, in at 61, out at 79, in at 7, out at 25, in at 37 and out at 40 (right-edge center front of purse).

Insert each end of Tie through a wooden bead, knot each end to secure bead.

HANDLE

Following steps for sc cord A

(see illustrati­on) as work progresses, with jute, ch 2, sc in B A 2nd ch from hook (A), *turn work clockwise, sc in lp of bump at beg (B), rotate clockwise (C), insert hook B in 2 lps of C bump (D), yo, draw A up a lp and A draw through 2 lps on hook B

(E), rep from * until cord (F) measures 88 inches, C leaving a 12-inch length, fasten off.

Working between rnds 36 and 37, insert end of cord between 21st and 22nd sts, and 63rd and 64th sts. Sew ends of cord tog and adjust cord so ends are even Single on Crochet each Cord side of purse to form 2 Handles.
