MATERIALS

• Universal Yarn Bamboo

Pop light (DK) weight cotton/bamboo yarn

(31/2 oz/292 yds/100g per ball):

3 balls #110 sand

• Size H/8/5mm crochet hook or

size needed to obtain gauge

• 2 stitch markers

• Tapestry needle

GAUGE

8 rows and 21/2 reps in lace pattern = 4 inches after blocking

13 rows in Stacked Rows Foundation Strip = 4 inches before blocking

PATTERN NOTES

Wrap is worked from a long stacked-rows foundation with decreases in each row to create obtuse triangle shapes. Solid fabric is created in the center section of the wrap by working shell stitches within a row.

29 fringe sections are added along the bottom edge after the wrap is completed and blocked.

SPECIAL STITCHES

Shell: 5 dc in indicated st.

Framed V-stitch (frV-st): (Ch 1, dc, ch 2, dc, ch 1) in indicated st. Ending cluster stitch (end cl

st): Insert hook into indicated ch sp, yo, pull up a lp, yo twice, sk next dc and ch-1 sp, insert hook in next sc, yo, pull up a lp, [yo, pull through 2 lps] twice, yo, pull through final 3 lps on hook.

WRAP STACKED ROWS FOUNDATION STRIP

Row 1: Ch 2, sc in 2nd ch from hook. (1 sc) Row 2: Ch 2 (does not count as st), turn, 2 hdc in sc. (2 hdc)

Row 3: Ch 1, turn, sc in first hdc. (1 sc)

Rows 4–221: Rep rows 2 and 3. Row 222: Ch 1, turn, sl st in top of sc from row 221. (110 hdc “scallops”)

BODY OF WRAP

Row 1: Turn to back of work along flat side of Foundation Strip, ch 1, sc in first sc row, *sk next hdc row, frV-st (see Special

Stitches) in next sc row, sk next hdc row, sc in next sc row; rep from * to end of Foundation Strip. (56 sc, 55 frV-st)

Row 2: Ch 3 (does not count as a st), turn, *sc in next ch-2 sp, frV-st in next sc; rep from

* to last ch-2 sp, end cl st ( see Special Stitches) starting in last ch-2 sp. (54 sc, 54 frV-st, 1 end cl st)

Place markers in the 11th frV-st from each end of row 2.

Row 3: Ch 3, turn, [sc in next ch-2 sp, frV-st in next sc] 10 times, sc in marked frV-st ch-2 sp, shell in next sc, move marker to shell just made, [sc in next ch-2 sp, shell in next sc] across to 2nd marked st, sc in marked frV-st ch-2 sp, move marker to last shell made, frV-st in next sc, [sc in next ch-2 sp, frV-st in next sc] 9 times, end cl st starting in last ch-2 sp. (20 frV-st, 33 shells, 53 sc, 1 end cl st)

Row 4: Ch 3, turn, [sc in next ch-2 sp, frV-st in next sc] across to marked shell, sc in middle dc of marked shell, shell in next sc, move marker to shell just made, [sc in middle dc of next shell, shell in next sc] across to 2nd marked shell, sc in middle dc of marked shell, move marker to last shell made, frV-st in next sc, [sc in next ch-2 sp, frV-st in next sc] 9 times, end cl st starting in last ch-2 sp. FINISHING

Wet- or steam-block gently with wires to open up lace sts. Weave in ends.

Fringe

Cut 12-inch lengths of yarn in groups of 5, fold the 5 lengths in half and insert folded section through top of end cl st at point of wrap, pull up a lp and pull loose ends through, gently

tighten, tie a tight knot in the ends of each length to prevent fraying. Rep across edge of Wrap inserting in top of sc or end cl st at end of every other row on each side up from point 14 times.
