Faux-Macramé Plant Hanger

SPECIAL STITCHES

Picot: Ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch from hook (see illustration).

Hanging cord: Ch 101, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each rem ch across.

PLANT HANGER

Rnd 1: Form a slip ring (see illustration), or ch 4 and join (see Pattern Notes) to 4th ch from hook to form a ring. Ch 1, 9 sc into ring, tighten slip ring, join to first sc. (9 sc)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in first sc,

2 sc in each rem sc around, join to first sc. (18 sc)

Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in first sc, * picot (see Special Stitches), sc in each of next 2 sc; rep from * 7 times, picot, sc in last sc, join to first sc. (18 sc, 9 picots)

Rnd 4: Ch 1, sc in first sc, *ch 6, sk picot, sc in each of next 2 sc; rep from * 7 times, ch 6, sk picot, sc in last sc, join to first sc. (18 sc, 9 ch-6 sps) Rnd 5: Ch 1, sc in first sc,

*6 sc in next ch-6 sp, sc in next sc, picot, sc in next sc; rep from * 7 times, 6 sc in last ch-6 sp, sc in last sc, picot, join to first sc. (72 sc, 9 picots) Rnd 6: Sl st in next 4 sc (start

TASSEL

Ch 30 and fasten off.

Wrap yarn around length of cardboard 45 times. Thread the yarn ch under the wraps and tie ends of ch tog with an overhand knot (see illustration A). Slide the ch so the knotted end is under the wraps. Gently remove the wraps from cardboard. Tie the end of the working yarn around the wraps about an inch beneath the ch (see illustration

B), continue to wrap the yarn around the wraps several times. Cut yarn and tuck the end under itself to secure. Cut the bottom lps of the tassel. Hang the tassel from the center/bottom of the plant hanger using the yarn ch.

FINISHING

Block as follows: Soak in lukewarm water, squeeze out excess moisture, stretch the hanger over the bottom of the pot, and allow to dry completely with pot upside down.

When dry, tie the hanging cords tog at the desired length with an overhand knot.
