GAUGE

18 sc = 4 inches; Rows 3–6 = 21/4 inches

PATTERN NOTES

Broomstick lace is worked in 2-loop groups.

Place marker at the end of indicated rows, then remove marker, chain 4 and pull loop through the first stitch of indicated row to avoid having to fasten off and rejoin colors.

Each panel is approximat­ely 16 inches wide by 50 inches long before assembly. Due to the nature of the yarn and stitch pattern, the garment may grow in length and depth when worn.

First foundation single crochet (first foundation sc):

Ch 2, insert hook into 2nd ch from hook, yo, pull up a lp, yo, pull through 1 lp on hook (see illustrati­on A—ch-1 completed), yo, pull through both lps on hook (see illustrati­ons B and C—sc completed). Next foundation single crochet (next foundation sc): [Insert hook in last ch-1 made

(see illustrati­on A), yo, pull up a lp, yo, pull through 1 lp on hook (see illustrati­on B—ch-1 completed), yo, pull through both lps on hook (see illustrati­ons C and D—sc completed)] as indicated in instructio­ns.

Single crochet join (sc join):

Place a slip knot on hook, insert hook in indicated st, yo and pull up a lp, yo and draw through both lps on hook.

Double crochet join (dc join):

Place a slip knot on hook, yo, insert hook in indicated st, yo and pull up a lp, [yo and draw through 2 lps] twice on hook.

Double-crochet cluster (dc

Rows 23 & 24: Rep rows 7 and 8.

Row 25: Remove marker from driftwood, ch 4 (does not count

as st), pull lp through first st, ch 1, using smaller needles, working from right to left, pull last lp onto knitting needle, [insert hook in next st, pull up lp and place on needle] across, turn. [224 lps] Row 26: Rep row 6. At the end of last row, do not fasten off; place marker in live lp. Rows 27 & 28: Rep rows 9 and 10. Rows 29 & 30: Rep rows 25 and 26. Fasten off.

Rows 31–34: Join mochaccino in first st with sl st, ch 1, [rep rows 1 and 2] twice. Fasten off.

FINISHING

Block panels.

Poncho Seam: With mochaccino, holding panels RS tog, sc join in first st of last row, working in outer lps only of both pieces, sc in next 111 sts. Fasten off.

Edge Row: Join mochaccino at one front corner, working in back lps only, sl st evenly along edge of front opening.

Make 6 5-inch tassels and attach at the corners.
