Celtic Cables Afghan

- Design by Bonnie Barker

PATTERN NOTES

Unless otherwise noted in the pattern, do not work in the beginning chain. Stitch count should remain consistent throughout. The only exceptions are row 1 of the Knurl pattern (1 stitch less, however the stitch count is maintained in row 2 of this stitch), and row 1 of the Cable pattern, which will have 52 cables plus 2 single crochet.

Weave in loose ends as work progresses.

Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.

Chain-2 at beginning of row counts as first half double crochet unless otherwise stated.

TASSEL Make 4.

Using a book or other firm board that is at least 91/2 inches wide, wrap yarn around evenly 60 times to form tassel. Carefully slide yarn off board, run 12-inch length of yarn through center of wound yarn and tie tightly to secure. Take another 10-inch length of yarn and tie around yarn about 1 inch below first tie on top. *Carefully wrap 1 yarn end around a couple of times. Using a yarn needle, secure yarn end by pushing needle into center right below where yarn was wound. Rep from * with other yarn end. Trim yarn evenly at bottom of tassel.

Finishing

Attach 1 tassel to each corner of throw by tying securely to each corner and then hiding tie yarn ends using yarn needle.
