PATTERN NOTES
Weave in loose ends as work progresses.
Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.
Chain-5 at beginning of round counts as first double crochet and chain-2 unless otherwise stated.
When instructed to work in a V-stitch, work in chain-3 space of that stitch.
Chain-3 at beginning of round counts as first double crochet unless otherwise stated.
SPECIAL STITCHES
Front post popcorn (fppc): 3 fpdc (see Stitch Guide) around post of specified st, drop last lp from hook, insert hook around first fpdc from front to back, pick up dropped lp and pull through sp.
V-stitch (V-st): (Dc, ch 3, dc) in indicated sp. Single crochet join (sc join):
Place slip knot on hook, insert hook in indicated st, yo, draw up a lp, yo, draw through both lps on hook.
Popcorn (pc): 3 dc in indicated lp, drop lp from hook, insert hook from front to back in top of first dc, pick up dropped lp, draw through lp on hook.
DOILY MOTIF
Make 6. Rnd 1: With magenta dk and leaving a 2-inch tail, make a slip ring (see illustration), ch 1, 5 sc in ring, join (see Pattern Notes) in beg dc, pull tail to close ring. (5 sc)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in same sc as join, 2 sc in each sc around, join in beg sc. (10 sc)
Rnd 3: Ch 5 (see Pattern Notes), [dc in next sc, ch 2] around, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-5. (10 dc, 10 ch-2 sps)
Rnd 4: Ch 1 loosely, fppc (see Special Stitches) around same dc as join, ch 3, [fppc around next dc, ch 3] around, join in beg fppc. (10 fppc, 10 ch-3 sps)
Rnd 5: Sl st in next ch-3, ch 1, hdc in same ch-3 sp, (ch 4, hdc) in each ch-3 sp around, ch 4, join in beg hdc. (10 hdc, 10 ch-4 sps)
Rnd 6: Ch 1 loosely, fppc around same hdc as join, [ch 1, V-st (see
Special Stitches) in next ch-4 sp, ch 1*, fppc around next hdc] around, ending at *, join in beg fppc. Fasten off. (10 fppc, 20 ch-1 sps, 10 V-sts) Rnd 7: Join leaf green med in any V-st (see Pattern Notes), ch 3 (see Pattern Notes), (2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in same V-st as beg ch-3, [ch 1, fpdc around next fppc, ch 1*, (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in next V-st] around, ending at *, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. (60 dc, 10 ch-3 sps, 10 fpdc, 20 ch-1 sps) Rnd 8: Ch 3, dc in each of next 2 dc, [(3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in next ch-3 sp of same V-st, dc in each of next 3 dc (leaf made), fphdc around next fpdc*, dc in next 3 dc] around, ending at *, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. Fasten off. (10 leaves, 10 fphdc)
Rnd 9: Working behind any leaf, sc join (see Special Stitches) raspberry pink lt in any ch-3 sp of rnd 6 between 3rd and 4th dc of rnd 7, [ch 5, fppc around next fphdc, ch 5*, working behind next leaf, sc in next ch-3 sp of rnd 6 between any 3rd and 4th dc of rnd 7] around, ending at *, join in beg sc. Fasten off. (10 sc, 10 fppc, 20 ch-5 sps)
Center Motif Only
Rnd 10: Sc join leaf green med in ch-3 sp of any leaf, ch 3, sc in same ch-3 sp, [ch 5, fphdc around next fppc, ch 5*, (sc, ch 3, sc) in next ch-3 sp] around, ending at *, join in beg sc. Fasten off. (20 sc, 10 ch-3 sps, 20 ch-5 sps, 10 fphdc)
Outer Motif
Rnd 10: Sc join leaf green med in ch-3 sp of any leaf, ch 1, with Center Motif at right, sl st in any ch-3 sp, ch 1, sc in same ch-3 sp of new Motif as beg sc, ch 5, fphdc around next fppc, ch 5, sc in next ch-3 sp, ch 1, sl st in next ch-3 sp of Center Motif, ch 1, sc in same ch-3 sp of new Motif as last sc, [ch 5, working in new Motif, fphdc around next fppc, ch 5*, (sc, ch 3, sc) in next ch-3 sp (place
marker on first ch-3 sp)] around, ending at *, join in beg sc. Fasten off. Rep rnd 10 on each Outer Motif, working in next 2 ch-3 sps at right on Center Motif.
Rnd 11: Sc join leaf green dk in marked ch-3 sp, *[ch 5, fphdc around next fphdc, ch 5, (sc, ch 3, sc) in next ch-3 sp] 6 times, ch 5, fphdc around next fphdc, ch 5, sc in next ch-3 sp, ch 4, tr in 4th ch from hook, ch 1 (lp made)**, sc in next marked ch-3 sp, rep from * around, ending at **, join in beg sc.
Fasten off. (70 sc, 30 ch-3 sps, 35 fphdc, 50 ch-5 sps, 5 lps)
Insert Make 5.
With spring garden, sl st in last ch-5 sp before any lp, ([ pc— see Special Stitches, ch 2] 3 times, pc) in next lp, sl st in next ch-5 sp. Fasten off.
FINISHING
Block Doily dry, pinning out every point to open Motifs.
Spray thoroughly with water or spray starch, allowing it to dry completely before unpinning.
