PATTERN NOTES

Runner is worked from written instructio­ns and chart. Red row numbers on chart are for first half of runner, blue row numbers are for 2nd half. Red boxes on first half are increases. When working 2nd half, red boxes are decreases.

Weave in loose ends as work progresses.

Bobbles are worked only on even-numbered rows throughout. Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.

SPECIAL STITCHES

Increase (inc): 2 sc in indicated st.

Bobble: Yo, insert hook in indicated st, yo and pull up a lp, yo and draw through 2 lps (2 lps on hook), [yo, insert hook in same stitch, yo and pull up a lp, yo and draw through 2 lps] 4 times (6 loops on hook), yo, draw through all 6 lps.

FIRST HALF

Row 1: Ch 16, inc (see Special Stitches) in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across to last ch, 2 sc in last ch, turn. ( 17 sc)

Row 2: Inc in first st, sc in each st across to last st, inc in last st, turn, turn. (19 sc)

Rows 3–19: Rep row 2. (53 sc)

Row 20: Inc in first st, sc in next 25 sts, bobble (see Special Stitches) in next st, sc in next 25 sts, inc in last st, turn. (54 sc, 1 bobble)

Row 21: Rep row 2. (57 sc)

Row 22: Inc in first st, sc in next 25 sts, bobble in next st, sc in next 3 sts, bobble in next st, sc in next 25 sts, inc in last st, turn. (57 sc, 2 bobbles)

Row 23: Rep row 2. (61 sc)

Row 24: Inc in first st, sc in next 25 sts, bobble in next st, sc in next 7 sts, bobble in next st, sc in next 25 sts, inc in last st, turn. (61 sc, 2 bobbles)

Row 25: Rep row 2. (65 sc) Rows 26–130: Referring to

Chart and following red numbers (see Pattern Notes and Chart), work sc and bobbles as indicated across each row, inc at beg and end of rows 26–33, then work even in rows 34–130. At end of last row, do not fasten off.

2ND HALF

Rotate chart so row 130 is at bottom of page.

Rows 131–259: Following row numbers in blue, work even in rows 131–227, then work sc dec (see Stitch Guide) in first 2 sts at beg and in last 2 sts at end of rows 228–259. At end of last row, fasten off.

Tassel Make 2.

Make 6-inch-long Tassel with tassel maker or with 6-inch piece of cardboard, work as follows: Cut 2 12-inch strands and set aside. Wrap yarn 20 times around cardboard. Slide 12-inch strand under 1 side edge of cardboard and knot tightly over wrapped yarn to secure

(see illustrati­on A). Remove Tassel from cardboard. Wrap rem 12-inch length around Tassel, approximat­ely 1/2 inch from top tie (see illustrati­on B). Tie securely and, with tapestry needle, pull ends of tie to center of Tassel. Trim ends evenly.

FINISHING

Place Runner on blocking mat, pinning edges out to finished measuremen­ts, wet lightly and allow to dry.

Tie Tassel to each short end.
