PATTERN NOTES

Weave in loose ends as work progresses.

Make sure you work in the back loop only for the second round so that you get the fun details down the sides of the pumpkins. Chain-2 at beginning of round does not count as a stitch unless otherwise stated.

GARLAND LARGE PUMPKIN

Make 1 each in A, B and D.

Rnd 1: Ch 18, hdc in 3rd ch from hook, dc in next ch, tr in each of next 12 chs, dc in next ch, hdc in last ch, ch 1, sl st in base of last hdc, rotate to work in the other side of ch, ch 2, hdc in first ch, dc in next ch, tr in each of next 12 chs, dc in next ch, hdc in last ch, ch 1, sl st in base of last hdc, ch 1, sl st in top of missed chs from foundation ch. (4 hdc, 4 dc, 24 tr)

With E, ch 13, dc in 5th ch from hook, *hdc in next ch, sc in each of next 5 chs, hdc in next ch, (dc, ch 4, sl st) in last ch**, ch 4, rotate to work in the other side of ch, dc in first ch, rep from * to ** once. Fasten off. (10 sc, 4 hdc, 4 dc)

HANGING CORD

Row 1: With E, ch 30, sl st in first ch (to create hanging lp), continue making chs until it measures 36 inches long after hanging lp, place marker in last ch, ch 30, sl st in marked ch.

Row 2: Beg in marked st, sc in back bar (see illustrati­on) of each ch to next sl st, sl st in sl st. Fasten off.

ASSEMBLY

Using photo as a guide, fold each stem in half and using E and tapestry needle, sew to top center of correspond­ing pumpkin. Using photo as a guide, or as desired, slide pumpkins onto hanging cord through lp in stem, making sure to space them evenly across. Use sewing pins to keep from sliding while figuring out placement.

With E and tapestry needle, sew each stem to hanging cord. Lightly steam-block and let dry completely.
