WELL, SELL THE HOUSE

A quick note to say how much I enjoyed the latest CW. Really fine writing from Neville Hockley (“The South Pacific’s Biggest Secret,” May 2017) about the South Pacific and New Caledonia — my wife is something of a skeptic in matters of cruising, and after reading that piece, suggested we sell the house and go! I also appreciated Fatty Goodlander’s balanced treatment of South Africa (“Just a Dog Story”). Simon’s Town is a favorite place of mine too, and his On Watch piece about Just Nuisance the dog ended with a real sting, dramatizing South Africa’s mesmerizing charm and the terrible guilt just below the surface.
