ADVICE: DON’T GO OVERBOARD

Good report about the difficulties of re-boarding a man overboard (“Practice Makes Perfect. Sometimes.” Editor’s Log, May 2018). I’ve been teaching sailing to adults since 1985, and made the point a million times that getting back aboard is the real challenge, so don’t fall over the side in the first place. I hope your editorial stirs some interest in the subject and we see re-boarding devices being offered to yacht outfitters. Seems like a pretty big gap in yacht equipment.
