DEFENDING HER HONOR

As a former owner of your Saunter, I feel I must come to her defense in your column about renaming your boat (see “Off Watch,” November/december). In a previous issue, when you referred to her as Red Tide, I bit my tongue and figured it was poetic license to add a little humor to the story, albeit at her expense. But again, this issue you continue to use that false moniker. Her name was Red Dawn. I almost hope that you used the wrong name in your “casting off the old,” in which case, of course, the ceremony would be entirely invalid, guaranteeing that your future with Saunter will be cursed. Wishing you the best with her, of course, but time will tell. Joseph Burke
