THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES

-

Regarding Don Street’s letter “The Pitons Did It” (Underway, January): How many of us are still around who sailed by the Pitons of St. Lucia “in the late ’50s”? I did it in 1956 aboard the schooner Mollihawk. Rodney Nicholson was the skipper and Julie Cook, the mate. I took pictures (now missing) of the Pitons with my Baby Brownie camera. We sailed, taking three weeks, from Grenada to Antigua. Did you ever have a candle-lit dinner with the then-owners of Mustique in their Plantation House? We did. What memories! —Shelby Coates, Newport, Rhode Island
