Dad's Famous Frozen Cookies

If you can find chunky unsweetene­d applesauce, use it. It adds great texture.

Makes 36 cookies

21/ 2 1 cups all-purpose flour tsp. baking soda tsp. kosher salt tsp. ground cinnamon tsp. ground nutmeg tsp. ground cloves stick unsalted butter (8 Tbsp.), at room temperatur­e cup packed light brown sugar eggs

Tbsp. pure vanilla extract cup unsweetene­d applesauce cup raisins cups old-fashioned rolled oats cup semisweet chocolate chips (6 oz.)

Preheat oven to 375°. Line baking sheets with silicone baking mats or parchment.

Whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves in a bowl.

Cream butter and brown sugar in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment on medium speed until smooth, 2 minutes. Scrape down sides of bowl and add eggs and vanilla; beat until combined. Add applesauce and mix until combined. Scrape down sides of bowl and mix in raisins.

Slowly add flour mixture, with mixer on low, just until combined. Stir in oats and chocolate chips.

Scoop dough with a #30 scoop (2 Tbsp.) onto prepared baking sheets spaced 2-inches apart.

Bake cookies until golden brown around the edges and only slightly set in the middle, 12 minutes. Let cookies cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes, then transfer to a rack to cool completely.
