Toffee Squares

Are they candy? Are they cookies? We just know they‘re easy and fun to make, and ultimately, delicious.

sticks unsalted butter

(16 Tbsp.), softened cup packed brown sugar egg yolk tsp. pure vanilla extract cups all-purpose flour tsp. table salt milk chocolate bars

(1.55 oz. each), such as Hershey's, broken into squares cup chopped almonds, toasted cup English toffee bits (such as Heath)

Preheat oven to 350°. Line a 9×13inch baking pan with parchment.

Cream butter, brown sugar, egg yolk, and vanilla in a bowl. Stir in flour and salt until combined; transfer to prepared pan.

Bake crust until golden brown,

20 minutes. (Crust will be soft.) Immediatel­y place chocolate squares on top of crust; let stand until chocolate softens, then spread over surface.

Sprinkle almonds and toffee bits over top of chocolate; cut into squares while still warm.

Store Toffee Squares in an airtight container at room temperatur­e. Do not refrigerat­e.
