Help rename commission
Cupertino is considering a name change for its Fine Arts Commission to broaden the reach of potential interest and align with the commission goals.
Commissioners are considering two options for a new name: the Arts and Culture Commission and the Culture, Visual and Performing Arts Commission. Commissioners approved a survey for public input, which is open through Friday, May 13, at https://engagecupertino.org.
Parking enforcement is back
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the
City of Cupertino relaxed parking enforcement at the Cupertino Civic Center. However, full parking enforcement will be reinstituted beginning Monday. The civic center parking lots include the spaces by city hall, Cupertino Community Hall and the library.
Any parking spaces marked specifically for permit parking should only be used by individuals with those permits. Enforcement will also resume for the parking spaces along Torre Avenue and Rodrigues Avenue.
Weed abatement deadline
Staff from the Santa Clara County Department of Agriculture and Environmental
Management are due to start their annual inspection of parcels Saturday to make sure they're in compliance with the county's Minimum
Fire Safety Standards. Vegetation must not exceed 6 inches in height any time after that date through the end of October.
If the property is not in compliance, the property owner will pay a fee equal to the contractor's charges plus a county administrative fee. All fees will be included in the owner's property tax bill; if a property is abated before the Saturday deadline, the administrative fee will be waived.
