Mayor's Cup Challenge

After opening the Cupertino Library expansion April 29, Mayor Darcy Paul and the city council are hosting the inaugural Mayor's Cup Challenge May 14 in the library's new event rooms.

The community event, set for 10 a.m.-2 p.m., is designed to challenge invited speakers and community members to think about a complex social problem from different perspectives. This year will focus on plastics and what to do about the growing environmental issues associated with them through the lenses of science, policy, industry and art.

This event is free, but registration is required to cupertino.org/mayorscupchallenge.

Plan to end homelessness

Cupertino's draft City Plan to End Homelessness is available for public review through June 3 at cupertino. org/cphomelessness.

The draft plan focuses on how to address the needs of the unhoused Cupertino residents as identified in the Santa Clara County Community Plan to End Homelessness, on view at osg.sccgov.org. The City Plan will help direct decisions about funding, program and needs.

Public comments on the draft plan be submitted to housing@cupertino. org. The Draft City Plan is set to be reviewed by the

Housing Commission and City Council in late spring.

Museum docents needed

Docents are needed at the Cupertino Historical Museum to open and close the museum, greet visitors, answer questions, lead tours and sell merchandise at the gift shop. Docents typically work two-hour shifts, and volunteers are asked to commit to at least four hours per month.

Volunteers must be at least age 16 and must complete a two-hour training before signing up to be on the schedule. Email jennifer@cupertinohistoricalsociety.org for more information or to schedule a training session.
