Mullen nudges out Bridgeport in Bronco Invite

The Mullen Broncos Wrestling team hosted the Bronco Invite Dec. 7. There were 16 teams in all represente­d.

Mullen was the Bronco Invite Champions with 175 points just nudging out Bridgeport who came in 2nd with 172 points. North Central placed 3rd with 97 points followed by Anselmo-Merna in 4th with 92, Hitchcock County 5th with 90, NPSP 6th with 84.5, Brady 7th with 77, Morrill 8th with 70, Bayard 9th with 54, Minatare 10th with 33, Sandhills/Thedford 11th with 32, Hyannis 12th with 24, Sandhills Valley 13th with 21, Leyton 14th with 19, Paxton 15th with 3 and Banner County 16th with 0.

Mullen had 3 wrestlers win individual championsh­ips in their weight class. Eli Paxton at 106, Teven Marshall at 120 and Clayton Hassett at 220.

Anselmo-Merna had 2 wrestlers win individual championsh­ips in their weight class. They were Connor Wells at 132 and Sid Miller at 195.

Mullen Head Coach Russ Monette stated that Saturday was a good start. They felt like most of their guys were where they expected them to be. They saw plenty of areas that they need to work on but for now he is thankful foer a good day and is encouraged with their wrestlers and their efforts.
