Proper precautions taken for event

BROKEN BOW - The 5th annual Winter Ball hosted by the Custer County Ag Society is for Saturday. With the exception of school events this will be the largest community gathering held in the past few months. The Winter Ball of 2020 was one of the last larger events held before social restrictions shut down gatherings in March of last year.

There should be a good sized crowd. As of Monday, Custer County Fairgrounds Administrator Michelle Nelson said 200 people have purchased tickets. “We are limited to 275,” Nelson said. “We will take many precautions, having masks available, gloves available and sanitizer in many areas.”

Up for auction is a large framed picture of cattle by Lori Lambrecht, a cow hide donated by Bow Family Furniture and gift certificates for mineral from Evans Feed, Muddy Creek Nutrition and KN Feeds. “We have many cute gift baskets, a bottle of tequila with shot glasses and holder, and many more items,” Nelson said.

Funds raised will go towards improvements at the Custer County Fairgrounds. Last years money was earmarked for new camper pedestals and electrical hookups. “The Board has big hopes and dreams of what’s to come at the Fairgrounds,” Nelson said. “Events such as the Winter Ball make each and every step possible. We appreciate and thank all our supporters!”

The Winter Ball will be held this Saturday, Jan. 30 at the One Box Convention Center in Broken Bow. Social hour and silent auction begin at 5:30 p.m. at with supper at 6:30 p.m. A

live auction will follow the meal. The band “Borderline” will provide music 9 p.m.-1 a.m.

Tickets are $40 each ($30 meal plus $10 donation). A table for ten can be purchased for $360. To purchase tickets, contact Nelson at 308-870-2493.

After almost a year of social restrictions of some type in place, many may be ready to party, even with masks and sanitizer at hand. “I personally am very excited for this event,” Nelson said. “After what 2020 had in store for us, I am looking forward to 2021.”
