Callaway Clinic following vaccination plan

- BY MONA WEATHERLY

CALLAWAY - Callaway Medical Clinic is continuing to follow the Nebraska Department of Health and Human’ Services plan for administering COVID-19 vaccines.

Callaway Hospital and Medical Clinic CEO Brett Eggleston recommends those seeking vaccination sign up on the DHHS website portal that will be available in next several days.

“Because of the limited supply of vaccine doses, we are still several weeks away from being able to expand vaccination beyond our established patients,” Eggleston said. “We are establishing a waiting list, however, we do not have a definite timeline for when this might occur.”

Eggleston said the online portal will help match people with the closest vaccine provider in their area. Utilizing the DHHS resource will help keep staff available to care for patients at the hospital. “We would like to avoid phone calls if possible to prevent overwhelming our resources,” Eggleston added.

Eggleston noted that the original vaccination plan has changed. “As of Jan. 15, Phase 1B and 1C have been combined into just 1B with different tiers,” he said.

Tier I of 1B includes educators, corrections and utility employees and first responders. Tier II includes those working in grocery, food processing and funeral homes. Tier III are employees of USPS, public transport and transportation. Phase 2 remains the general public ongoing vaccinations are occurring for those 65 years and older and for those with high risk medical issues.

The DHHS website can be accessed online at dhhs.ne.gov. Click “View Data Dashboard” for COVID-19 information, then click “COVID-19 Vaccination dashboard for further information. The registration portal for vaccinations is expected to be available sometime this week.
